This puffer is available in my area but having a little trouble identifying it. The seller says it is about 5" long (12.7cm)
I thought it looked like a figure eight puffer but I have never heard of one that big. I then thought it might be a Mbu but the markings are not right. It looks a bit stressed by the black belly but he did say the puffer changes back and forth quite a bit and it is in a 10gal tank. I have a 200 gal set up waiting for it if it is worth it.
Anyone have a thought on this?

My opinion is that it definitely not got the markings of a figure 8 - It's latin name, 'biocellatus', means 'two eyespots'. Given to it because of the two distinct black dots on its tail that sometimes look like eyes.

You see eyespots on that fish? I'm sorry nobody got back to Jeff on that one... He posted in February.

I'd say it's a T. fluviatilis.
