Re: Cycling With Bio-Spira
FYI: Dr Tim's One and only is NOT, repeat not the original BioSpira. Dr. Tim stated this himself.

Although created by Dr Tim, it is not his "origional' formula.

Re: Cycling With Bio-Spira
When he left the company for which he developed BioSpira, they retained the patents (even though in his name - part of his contract and fairly standard).
So, when he started his new company - his own - he had to develop new products. If he used the old formulations and named strains, he would have been guilty of patent infringement, even though it was his own work.
So the One and Only strains are different, but do the same job. Dr Tim is perhaps the bet-equipped person to recognize useful stains and ID them and isolate and develop practical handling techniques for them. He was one of the modern break-through in recognizing the real bugs that self-propagate in captivity indefinitely and the techniques for providing viable shipping snd storage techniques for handling them.

I had no idea what you meant until I looked up "One and Only" on google. I found his product and it sounds great, but I can't find it in any LFS in my area.
I will try to find cheaper priced Tetra Safestart online, then force major LFS chain stores to match the price because they "do the same job"
Good info!
Kind regards,

Instant Ocean markets a Bio-Spira that is the same stuff although it does not need to be refrigerated.

Re: Cycling With Bio-Spira
I tried this product, I tried bio everything, I tried ammonia, I tried fish, NOTHING WORKED.
3 months later, NOTHING had happened
I took the filter media from my old tank at home (200 miles away hence trying everything else first) and the tank cycled in 2 hours.
I cant emphasise how much I wish someone had just insisted I do this before.
