The other critter that rules the house

I see this is a pretty infrequently used section of the forums but, I can't resist a chance to show off my other overlord. This is Rusty the JRT. He's been with us for a little over a year now. Rusty is very curious (shocker for a JRT) about fish.

He definitely likes to watch the water change process. His eye also doubles up as a laser.

Not a huge fan of water himself though.

Have you looked into a JRTCA club nearby? All sorts of cool terrier competitions for him!

There is a club nearby, well near enough. Rusty is a special case. He's 10 years old, 9 when we got him from Russell Rescue, inc. Everyone should check them out if if you're looking for one, they do good things. Having only one eye, his depth perception isn't the best. So we will see. He is also highly intolerant of other dogs...might explain his one eye and his scars.

Him and I have big plans this spring. We wanted to give him a year to acclimate to the new house before we began to socialize him and see how he takes to obsticals and agility.

LOL, most JRT are intolerant of other dogs! Hence the muzzle for racing. ;) Kalvin is 10 now, he competes with other seniors.

Kalvin is a handsome dog. Very fit.

I'm looking forward to getting Rusty into some agility training this spring. It will be interesting. He doesn't really run in straight lines, only diagonal since his head is always cocked to the side so he can see and he can't catch for walrus but, no rodent or small animal dares come within 100' of our house.

I would sugget JRT events, over agility for this 1/2 blind dog. Chasing the rat comes naturally!

I'll look into it. I'd have to drive a bit further for that but, it seems right up his ally. Thanks for the suggestion. He's a weirdo for certain. It might help with his neurosis.

Cute pups posted here!

My wife and I have our parrots. Many of them rescues. Some of them aren't so well off because of previous owners but others have really come around.

We have two Sugar Gliders, not quite rescue but relinquished to us because the owners could no longer care for them optimally. They're already 7/8 years old. Really cute pets but tons of work. Totally worth it to us. We also have rescue leopard geckos and two rescue bearded dragons (as well as a leo and beardie baby we raised). We've had a dwarf rabbit for about 8 years now as well. She is a sweetheart. Vet visits are like triple her original cost though! lol worth it however. Such a cuddle bug.

I have a small tarantula "collection". Most of them are spiderlings (babies) I'm raising to adult hood and seeing where to go from there. I'm a total noob to breeding spiders but trying to do my best to encourage more captive bred species rather than ones taken from the wild.
