meet frank

Post by puffer_addict »

Frank is my big crayfish and been in the tank since my first green spotted was put in. They had their fights. Finney *gps* would bug him and test his limits. Until one day, Frank was able to give him a nice hug which resulted in me having to break them up. Every since then they have been pretty much scared of each other. Frank is a pretty oddguy. It seems like he always need to be the focus of the tank. If you cant find him its because you are looking in the wrong place...He is in the front just staring at you. He loves to climb things and just jump. Not sure if he is trying to end his life or just exploring. He makes a great part of the tank and a lot of smiles. Also, he loves to clean my sand up which is great because i hate doing it.

I have one living with my Congo. Removed his claws so he wouldn't hurt the puffer & now he cleans up after him.

What?
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Yeah, but you didn't feel like that was akin to declawing a cat?

Well...think that keeping puffers and crayfish in the same tank is quite wrong.
They are predator and prey, and naturally, prey avoids predators, so i strongly believe that this kind of relationships are extremely stressful to "preys"
Let there be light, and lit up the days... Let there be puffers, and they swam around the world...

They keep to their own corners. I think the puffer's afraid of him.

Ohhhh! I thought you meant you removed the claws so that he could be a long-term tankmate. I was so wigged out!

i see no wrong with this. the puffers do their own thing and my crayfish does his. he has a lot of space and hiding spots and i havent had an issue.

I actually agree with RVS, at least to an extent. Until we better understand how large invertebrates' minds work and how much "emotion" they can feel, I would avoid this kind of arrangement, personally. With smaller ones, I don't think it's an issue because their brains are so incredibly simple - whether they can even experience pain is unknown, and most scientists are leaning towards no, so I don't think fear is an issue.

Is the congo aggressive as most arrowheads? I know 100% that the arrowhead is missing fear. Unless hes not scared because he thinks hes invisble lol i would fo thought the congo would take chunks out of any size cray.
