He's just a baby. Three inches from horn tip to horn tip. He is super friendly and curious.

Why haven't you entered POTM with this pic? Cowfishes are allowed.

I didn't enter POTM because I didn't know I had to (I don't know what that even means). Sorry for breaking the rules. I probably have been raising puffer since before you were born. I just got a new tank after years of pulling my life back together, and thought I would share om joy.

I thought it was a nice pic to share of a puffer relative.

Bye.

You don't have to enter. But it's such an awsome pic that I would like to see it in POTM. A beautiful and fascinating fish! I'm in love with it. :smitten:

This is the puffer forum, but I thought that the entire family was fair game, as obviously Troender does too. That means that if the fish is in the family you can (but are not required to do so) enter any photo in the POTM (Puffer Of The Month) contest here on the forum. The members will vote for their pick pf the best photo of any member of the fish family.

Adult cowfish are hefty and picky and can poison their own tank if harasses. And those horns on adults are proportionally much smaller than on the small ones. As with many family members, they need space and do offer risks to tankmates and themselves. Their branch of the family can dump their toxin. I don't know if adults tank reared from babies carry toxin. Most puffers lose their toxin in captivity, as the original source is from bacteria not found in tanks.
