55 Gallon GSP Tank....What do you think???

Post by MelissaKaye »

This is our 55 gallon green spotted puffer tank, it's still a work in progress. We're are enjoying our two GSPs that share this tank, we've named them Mondo and Fugu. In the tank with them we have three "feeder" crayfish....wait, make that two crayfish and two fiddler crabs. We know they will get eaten at some point but we're big believers in our GSPs having live food to catch and kill themselves. Please feel free to give us feedback on our tank set up!

(2) Fiddler Crabs
(1) Ghost Shrimp (He is the last of 40...he's been in this tank for weeks and is still alive..lol)

Thank you, thank you! Are we missing anything? Mondo and Fugu are our first brackish fish and our first puffer fish so we want to make sure we're doing it right!

from what i've seen and read on it could help to eventually add an aquarium circulation pump. But that tank looks sweet! I can't wait to set up my 55 Gal!

As they get a bit bigger, I'd add an AC 120 on there. Do you plan on bumping it up to SW?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

We are raising the SG by .002 each week as of now. Our plan is to get the tank to 1.02 and hang out there for a while. We have a powerhead that we use to mix their brackish water with in a plastic tub for a couple of days before we do water changes....she we add a powerhead to their tank as well? The powerhead we have is the Marineland 600.

So a quick update!!! We are now at 1.020 and have pulled that background off of out tank. The back of the tank has now been painted black and looks much better. We are headed down to MA next weekend to look for a large faux coral insert!!!! We took to heart what many has to say about our Marineland filter and have changed over to (2) AquaClear 50 filters and our water looks great!
