Re: Snoopy's tank
Hi there..Who is gonna tell me what kind of fish "can be" together with my F8 puffers? I have 4 puffers now, but I will give 2 of them to my brother. So what kind of fish you can recommend me? In my tank, there is sand and couple of stones only, but I would like to put there any plants. I was thinking about some Cryptocorynes, Microsorium pteropus.. I have no experience with plants in brackish water.. THANK YOU for all advices.. I was trying to use "search" but I cant open anything..

Re: Snoopy's tank
Nice tank,
How big is this tank of yours ?
Tank size will determent if you can keep any more fish.
Live plants are hard to keep in brackish water, but it can be done.

Re: Snoopy's tank
65 litre is too small for 2 f8 alone.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Re: Snoopy's tank
Your tank looks lovely, and so do your puffers, but as started above, you're over stocked with just the 2 Fugure 8's.
As far as plants, you could try a planted tank forum, they could help you on a brackish plant set up. There are only a few members here with planted brackish tanks.

Re: Snoopy's tank
I think your tank is looking a little too bare. It could use more decorations especially at the higher levels.
Also, you will have much better luck with plants if you lower your salinity (plus your wood will break down slower). F8s will do fine with a salinity of 1.005 and can go as low as 1.003. This will let you grow more plants and save money on salt (and the F8s will do better).

It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Re: Snoopy's tank
Thank you very much Flutter. Actaully my tank looks now a bit different, I ll post any new photos next week. I was trying to search anything here, but it doesnt work longer time. There is written "[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /includes/functions.php on line 2393: preg_replace() expects parameter 4 to be long, string given" I dont know what is it. So I ll go "down" with salinity slowly.

Re: Snoopy's tank
I liked your tank decor way better before! You're really wasting $alt by keeping the SG that high. F8s are fine at 1.005. Then, you might be more successful with plants, although I never have been with BW.

Sorry, but FOR ME, it looks too "plastic" and too coloured, cause I think (my opinion), tank should be (looked like) a section of nature. But its just MY OPINION. (friends)

Re: Snoopy's tank
It really depends on how much money you're willing to spend on decorations, I've seen some fake plants where I had to look twice or thrice and then touch it to make sure . A real reef in a tank is gorgeous but some puffers will try to eat/bite the corals and corals aren't exactly cheap either. I think this is a pretty good alternative, you get some nice bright colours and it becomes far more complex than just rocks could/would do. I wonder if puffers perceive the colors if at all. I personally think that it looks nice and would love to see a much larger picture .Snoopy wrote:Sorry, but FOR ME, it looks too "plastic" and too coloured, cause I think (my opinion), tank should be (looked like) a section of nature.
