I saw that episode of River Monsters on the Discovery channel, apparently this is what happens to a herbivorous fish that is starved of it's usual food... In the episode, one native talked about how the pacu were eating snakes, baby alligators, anything really, because they were over-populating and running out of conventional food.
Idk about any other guys, but just thinking about a pacu doing this gives me the shivers, they've got some crazy teeth, which they use in the amazon rivers to crush nuts and fruits with, with astonishing force.
P.S. despite what the article says, I'm quite sure Jeremy Wade met with the man of the attack that supposedly died, the guy was living a healthy, normal life... well as normal a life as you can live without your gonads o.o.
