found this little tri-colored iris

Post by J-P »

this little one was found in the back growing all by itself. The flower is about the size of a dime.

Love iris'. I never have seen one like that though and being that small. Little beauty though.

I haven't either. Thus, the post.

It is so small even today while landscaping I almost crushed it a couple times. Also, I have never seen wild irises' grow in singles. Usually they are in patches. Possibly a stray seed that made its home? I hope more bloom or turn up.

Could be a immature plant that somehow grew alittle flower. Might had been dropped by a seed from near by like you metioned.

Probably landed in a bird pooh seed, you will have more next year
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Well it is in a "protected" area of the garden now. That 3 foot square area around it it hands off for this year :)
