Yeah the wiring leaves much to be desired. I kind of set it up in a rush and did not do the 'drip lines' well. messy, messy, messy!

Re: What did you do with your tank today
I have not updated stuff in a while so here is what new with me in my fish keeping.
Since my post way back when...
My wife and I have moved and did a full remodel to the new home we bought and my 210 gallon tank is now sadly gone... lol dont feel bad it was replaced with a 300 gallon! My hairy puffer got an upgrade from a 40B with an Aquaclear 110 to a 65B with an Aquaclear 110 and Eheim 2217 along with a fancy new Current USA Satellite + LED light. I also finally got around to setting up the 'Extra' 65B I had for growing out two Oscars that will eventually go into the 300 gallon.
That is what Ive been doing - how about you guys? Whats new?

Re: What did you do with your tank today
I am waiting for my dwarf puffers to come into stock so my tank is currently home to a colony of cherry and Amano shrimp who got fed. Not too exciting, but satisfying because my tank is fully cycled and ready for and waiting for its two future puffers to get here!

Re: What did you do with your tank today
What a difference a couple years can make in the hobby. I am currently running 6 tanks. A 300 gallon community tank in the living room with large fish which include cichlids, bichir and bala sharks. Then I set up some steel racking in the garage that has two 90 gallon tanks, two 65B tanks and one 30 gallon. I now have 640 gallons that I take care of. A mix of fish in the garage tanks but I still have my hairy puffer and acquired an arrowhead puffer too.
With all these tanks going now there is constant work going on, lol.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Decided to change out a tank. Upgraded my 30 gallon to a bit bigger 46g bowfront. This is the arrowhead puffer home. Because it is so inactive in nature, I decided to do this as a planted tank with anubias. This is my first go round with live plants so I picked an easy one.

My Arrow is also in a 46 bowfront. I use it for snail breeding for my other puffers, too.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
I knew I should have sold my 30 gallon when I replaced it with the 46 bowfront... I got tired of tripping over it on the garage floor so I ended up setting it up, lol. Again due to the huge lack of activity from the arrowhead puffer he gets moved back to his old 30 and now the 46 becomes something else. Maybe a planted community? Moral of the story: sell the old tank immediately after an upgrade

LOL! Is that why I have 8 tanks? 1 I just can't get rid of is my 10g hex, even though I haven't used it in many years.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
I did some water changes today in my puffer tanks. My hairy puffer is still my hands down favorite fish I have. She just gets so excited to see me and I see how she just watches me when I am in the fishroom. My arrowhead is going through some funk, on a hunger strike since the move back to the 30 gallon. Wont take its normal worms right now. Ive been continuing to offer and just keeping up the regular routine water changes. I figure it will come around. While I dont feed live, I might consider a few feeder guppies from a trusted source to see if that gets a reaction.
My 46g bowfront that the arrowhead was moved out of is now a ‘community’ tank. In my years of fish keeping I really never kept a basic community of tetra, angel, gourami, platies, cory cats, etc. this tank has really made fish keeping fun again. I still enjoy all my larger Central American cichlids in the 300 and have some grow out plans for my 90 gallon but this little tank is just fun to watch.

I love my 180g South American fish tank!
My Arrowhead is just as boring as my Hairy & turgidus but I still love them all.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
I must have lucked out because my hairy puffer is so outgoing and interactive with me. She really uses a lot of her 65B so has never been moved to a smaller tank. The arrowhead originally started in another 65B but it was a total waste, same with the 46 bowfront. The 30 is perfect but apparently the arrowhead is upset, thus its first tantrum/hunger strike ever. Im not a person that would normally feed live fish but got a few guppies from a trusted source to see if I can break him. Going on two weeks that its been ignoring its daily night crawler.

Oh gosh, good luck with that! Mine used to be a total pig but her appetite is waning greatly, too. He was huge when I got her so who knows how old she is?
