Rant: Got my Marbled Cray(s) today.
To make a long story short:
I ordered 6 marbled crays off Aquabid. It was posted as an "International Shipper", so I ordered them. The package never arrived, and I don't even know if the seller actually sent the package at all. He lost the tracking number and couldn't provide any proof of shipment. He offered to replace them but I still had to pay the shipping and a "discounted rate" for the replacements.
I ordered the second batch and he gave me a tracking # this time. A few days later I checked the tracking number and it didn't exist or was copied in error. Today I found out instead of a 0 (zero) he put down an "o". Idiot. The package was sent on the 7th of Feb and arrived today (the 15th).
I opened the package to find 6 little crays double bagged in about 1" of water. At first I was "EH? What the hell?". No bag buddies, no heaters, no insulated box. With only 1" of water in the bag, I am sure they got bumped and jostled pretty good and the water couldn't provide any buoyancy or buffer from the shocks, not to mention any ammonia problems. 5 of the 6 little guys are dead (DOA). 1 little guy moulted while in transit (the one that survived). Each were about 1/2" long. They are TINY!.
So here I am, paid $ 80 for 1 baby cray which I don't know will survive in the next 24 ~ 48 hours.
Normally I wouldn't name names to protect the innocent, but the guilty? Screw em! The seller is: Flyingfish I can't express my disappointment enough with this transaction.

File with Paypal or your credit card company. They should help you.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Because it was international there was no "arrive alive" guarantee. I don't know if I can make a claim because of stupidity. It would be done through Pay Pal.

Bummer, I'd try anyways and always do live arrival guarantee. They've been appearing at local stores (we bought 2, no babies yet), I could have shipped some to you if it weren't so cold. I'll let you know if I see them again.

Did they ship it overnight? If they did, then the carrier should guarantee overnight shipping. If you didn't make sure of it, then your bad... I'd report them to Aquabid.

Yep, BAs Kitchener and Hamilton guaranteed. Hamilton gets them as feeders, Kitchener sells them for $6.

Update!!
ok 4 of 6 are alive!! a massive sigh of relief.
It looks like they were in hibernation mode and woke up not too long ago
One who "just woke up" is struggling to keep upright.

possibly?
I did poke them with a chopstick, and they didn't move at all for a few hours. Only 1 was kicking while in the bag.
Most of them looked like the pic below when they arrived. Possibly sedated? I don't know. At least some are doing ok for now

that's what I thought too... hibernation mode. The box was VERY cold when I got it.Flutter wrote:Probably cold.
Now have to work on appropriate housing:
They are supposed to get upto 3" so that is a good sized critter.
