The nitrates are probably low because of the lack of food being put in the tank, since he doesn't eat any of it, thus the difficulty in medicating the food. Also I was under the impression fahaka puffers were brackish. no... what kind of salt were you adding and how much? Instant Ocean brand. Amoun...

Yeah, recombinantrider had Sushi for several years at least. Sushi disappeared very suddenly several months back, unfortunately.

I use Prime and love it. It's pretty critical for my tank care because I have ammonia in my tap water.

I think BBGs are social and do better in groups of at least 3, if not more. I could be wrong, though, so you should probably look it up.

Normal betta lifespan is 2-5 years, with a little more or less not being unheard of for natural deaths. Does he struggle to come up for air, or do so less often than before?
Can you get a picture of the gills?
