Re: Stumbled onto a Congo...
What kind of filter have you had on the tank, and have you kept up with the water quality since the substrate change? An Aquaclear 70...and the substrate was just changed Saturday (two days ago). The tank was cycled with 9 small julidochromis and a bushy nosed pleco...all of which are fine. I moved...

Re: Stumbled onto a Congo...
Yeah, he ate fine for a couple of days...Rosie Reds. I just can't imagine anything transferred from the rosies killing him this fast. He has been acting a little strange since shorty after I got him, but he was eating, so I discounted it. It may have just been plain old stress. I bought him Tuesday ...

Re: Stumbled onto a Congo...
This guy is gonna die. He has been super lethargic and "off kilter" for two days...I pulled him off the intake tube twice yesterday. Now he is swimming in circles, and when he does rest on the bottom, he is almost upside down. Whatever is killing him has been happening slowly. It can't be ...

Re: Stumbled onto a Congo...
Yeah...you're probably right...silly idea. And there would be no divider or net...I'm gonna make a nice display tank for this guy, and that kind of stuff is unsightly. Maybe I'll set up a 10, do lots of water changes, and try to breed guppies. First I'm gonna check a few LFS around here and see who ...

Re: Stumbled onto a Congo...
Hmmm...yeah. That is probably a good idea. What is the gestation on livebearers? I mean...it's weird that you say that because I have been thinking all night, watching the rosies swin around, "man those things are ugly...and I really don't want those things swimming around all the time." H...

Re: Stumbled onto a Congo...
Thanks, guys. I love my 100mm Macro for sure, but shooting through glass sucks. I guess it's a decent shot, but once I have the sand and he starts burying himself...that's when I hope to get a money shot of him...maybe even him blasting a Rosie...we'll see...that won't be easy with the low light. I'...

Stumbled onto a Congo...
Hi all, Well, my search didn't take as long as I thought it would. I found this guy today in a LFS. I planned to get the tank changed over to sand first, but didn't want to take a chance on losing him, so I nabbed him. In the LFS. he was being housed with big spanner barbs, and they had nipped his t...

Re: Just got a Congo
Hi...for what it is worth, my thoughts are these: Using brightly colored gravel to get a fish to change that color may work...but you still have nasty colored gravel that is always competing with the beauty of the fish in the eyes of the viewer. I paint the back of all my tanks black and use well ri...
