Re: New impeller making noise already
To chime in (a bit late, as always). I recently replaced a whisper filter (which I thought was nice and quiet) with an AquaClear of the same filtering capacity. What I thought was quiet was apparently a jet turbine when compared to the Aquaclear. AquaClear filters are way quieter than Whispers, and ...

Re: Building a 40g Breeder FOWLR tank for GSP
Great advice here once again.
I guess it is now time to start researching sumps or at least plan my stand around having one in place at some point. Thanks everyone for your input! I'm looking forward to putting this advice into practice over the next few months.

Re: New addition to the house
Thanks, I will attempt to achieve this when I get home tonight. Couldn't hurt to pick up another PH, either.

Re: Building a 40g Breeder FOWLR tank for GSP
Would you suggest 50-60lb of live rock with the remaining 10-20lb base rock? Regarding the sump, I'm still wrapping my head around this seemingly simple but, mind bending piece of tech. I actually hadn't considered using one but, it seems that you are right...I will have a spare 20g tank sitting aro...

Re: New addition to the house
@Welch4: Thanks for the advice. I actually just put the prefilter on 2 weeks ago (after the picture was taken) when I re-scaped the tank. I'm glad the air stone can go. I cant stand them, they are a huge eyesore. Plus, by removing it, i'll have an extra plug available to hook up the powerhead I have...

Building a 40g Breeder FOWLR tank for GSP
Hello, I've got my GSP set up pretty comfortably (its between 1.5-2 inches, currently) in a 29g brackish tank. I've recently acquired a 40g breeder that I'd like to slowly (read, on a budget over the course of this year) build up into a FOWLR tank. The GSP will relocate to the 40g, the dwarf puffers...

New addition to the house
Hello, Last month I inquired about the viability of keeping a GSP for 1-2 years in a 29g tank. I just wanted to introduce the new little guy/girl to the forum. First, the home: http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/ug.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=36464 The photo of the tank was from bef...

Re: Will a juvanile GSP be content in a 29g tank for 1-2 yea
Ouch. Yes, I'm running aragonite sand. I love the pH buffering it offers. I might actually have a few pre-filters left. I put one on the Eheim and Whisper filter...that means the 3rd in the pack is still somewhere in the house. Are the aquaclear filters simply built better? or is there another reaso...

Re: Will a juvanile GSP be content in a 29g tank for 1-2 yea
Thanks for the welcome and the information! Realistically I'd like to replace the tank in about 9-12 months but, things don't always happen as planned. I want to make sure the GSP would endure the tank longer if I'm forced to wait. I hate the whisper filter. Unfortunately, it's what I have for now. ...

Will a juvanile GSP be content in a 29g tank for 1-2 years?
Hello, new member here. A little background on myself, I've been keeping various fish on and off for about 8 years now. I currently have 2 dwarf puffers happily residing in a nice, planted 20g long for just about a year now. I have a separate 10-gallon snail farm set up for food. I've started (about...
