Re: Tetraodon erythrotaenia
Woland, what size tank do you have for the one? 40 liters for the time being. Will double that space shortly. How much water do you change weekly, and what are your nitrates at the time of a water change? Havent measured Nitrates for years... Used to do a weekly 50% water change, but now I keep my ...

Re: Recommendation
II thought freshwater would be easier set up, but if it is stressful for a SAP to be in a tank by itself, I wouldn't want to stress the fish. Is this with all SAPs or dependent on the temperant of each one? Thank you for answering my questions A light brackish set-up is quite simple. Marine conditi...

Re: Recommendation
I would stay clear of SAPs with such a small tank.
As a rule; they tend to fall into stress-behaviour, restlessly pacing the tank.
I had to go up to 350 litres before the behaviour (somewhat) subsided.
F8s are beautiful creatures.

Re: Tetraodon erythrotaenia
I keep one specimen at approx 1.005, and it seems content with these conditions. I bought it from a guy who had purchased 4 specimens and kept them in a 200 liter tank. My specimen is a dedicated murderer, who killed the other 3 specimens in a short period of time. I do not much like the smaller spe...

Re: T. Palembangensis Growth Rate
That depends. It has been suggested that they are very slow growers (2 cm. pr. year), but in my experience it depends on the size of the tank. One specimen I kept had a substantial jump in growth when I moved him into a 660 ltr. tank. An educated guess would be (around) 6-10 years before max size is...

Re: NEW GUINEA RED LINE TRIBAL PUFFER, T. ERYTHROTAENIA
I had one of these in my very early puffer keeping days.
Had it in freshwater (did not know better) and it died after 4-5 weeks.
Go brackish!
Where did you buy them?

Re: Aquarium Salt in Brackish Tanks?!?!?!?!?!?
It is silly... Although; the main content of aquarium salt is usually;;; salt... The content declaration of the dominating European product Ektozon is as follows: Each 100 grams contains Natrium perboricum, 580 mg Magnesiumperoxid, 58 mg Kalium chloricum, 97 mg. The rest is NaCl. Kinda expensive fun...

Re: Filbert Turning Into a KILLER?
My experience is that Puffers goes after the eyes with vigour in order to sustain fatal damage on the victim. Seen it with done by both Abeis and GSPs. I certainly hope that Filbert is merely tasting life around him, but I would not count on it. My Fahaka did in a LARGE Pleco after 1 year of peacefu...

Re: Growth rate on Tetraodon Baileyi
Hi Ian.
Until fairly recently Baileyis were unheard of in our hobby.
W know absolutly nothing about growth rate.
An educated guess would be somewhere beetween 1-2 cm a year.

Did you measure SG in the tank before changing water?Jase wrote: the Sg was ~1.009 and the new water was ~1.010 cause I'm still raising it...
Had the tank suffered much evaporation?
Was the "new" water of the same temperature as the water in the tank when you measured SG?

Re: My puffer is turning black is there anything wrong?
your puffer will be fine....my gsp does that all the time...usually when the lights are off....after the lights go on...and after i feed it...its belly is white again....i have 2 gsps and 1 figure 8 in the same tank...and only one gsp does that... This is a bad advice. The puffers will sustain dama...
