Re: Orange Saddleback Fucca/Puffer

Please listen to PufferPunk then, as well as the constructive criticism that Genevieve n itlagsWRX, and change how your puffers are housed. They have given you very good advice. If you love them, then you'll realize through reading articles that your care is gravely lacking. Set your perceived hurt ...

Re: Dwarf puffer intelligence

Keeping fingers crossed that you'll have your DP home in September. :) They are great little fish. My female's spots are iridescent, and really stand out when she is hunting. My male turns a gorgeous dark olive when he is excited, and has gorgeous yellow edging on his fins. Unfortunately, I returned...

Re: Orange Saddleback Fucca/Puffer

Nobody finds your red highlights insulting, so I dunno why you keep bringing it up. The posters are trying to help, not pick on you, and if you are hurt by their desire to help, it's not intended that way. We are a community who is passionate abt Puffers and their well-being. So let's get back to he...

Re: Dwarf puffer intelligence

Love your tank! I've only kept DPs (for now) and I will say, mine are very intelligent (for their size, esp), sociable, interactive and trainable. They definitely recognise faces. When I'm in front of the tank, they swim up, and beg for food. My husband has been very hands off, so when he sticks his...

Re: Why are Figure 8's brackish?

Evolutionary speaking, salmon has been able to hatch in FW, eventually move to marine, and then when ready to spawn, transition back to FW. Since scientific studies on these puffers are minimal, and info usually regurgitated from site to site, my guess is while they are found in FW in the wild, they...

Re: Orange Saddleback Fucca/Puffer

Nobody is offended, not sure why it's a concern. Anyway, we're glad to get answers to PP's questions so others can offer advice based on feedback. But we hope u aren't upset with the suggestions offered because we are all about giving puffers the best care, and want to help keepers help them. It als...

Re: Orange Saddleback Fucca/Puffer

SG isn't the size of the tank, it is the specific gravity of your water. Obv PP had a typo, and the F7 meant to be a F8. She has very legit concerns for the health n wellbeing of your fish, so I wld address those as well that of ur Fugu to ensure good health n longevity. Your F8 wont survive long in...

Re: Greetings from Puffer Corps

Hi and welcome to TPF.

Do you have a website? I'm also located in CA, and wld be interested in adopting in the future, if you happen to have a FW puffer of a certain size that needs a forever home.

Good on you for fighting for the underdogs, and giving them a voice.

Re: Tap water, distilled or RO?

I suggest using an alternative to peat moss, since it isn't a renewable resource, like Indian Almond Leaf. I like it, used it for my Bettas back in Asia as well as here. Driftwood also softens the water. Quick google will give you ideas on softening your water for a tank, as well as where to buy them.

Re: Amazon Puffer Care: Need help

6 in a 33 gal is way over the bioload. Pufferpedia stated 15 gal for a SAP, go with that info. Even a 44 gal is pushing it for 6 SAPs. Always go with bigger, the better when it comes to housing puffers. And of course, never below the minimum. So, 15 gal for the 1st SAP and at least 10 for the next, ...

Re: Newbie - Do I have this down right?

Welcome! You have done your research well! Looking forward to seeing pics of your tank and DPs. :) With PP on both counts. The setup sounds fantastic, and IMHO, tend to avoid medicating unless necessary. But it's good to have Prazi-Pro on hand. You can read abt IP treatment in the 'Learn' section lo...
