Re: All boys club - is this a problem for DPs?
PufferPunk, I totally back you on updating the minimum tank info for puffers. Too many keepers go for the minimum, and then try to cut corners by bargaining w/ themselves (and other more experienced keepers) that a smaller tank would suffice cos of fish size to filter size, etc. Keeping fish is a co...

Re: All boys club - is this a problem for DPs?
I had a male and female, and despite a heavily decorated 10 gal tank (will try to upload a pic), the male was obnoxious. He chased the female, and when he wasn't bullying her, he was aggressively trying to court her. He nipped @ my Otos, and I'm sure was responsible for severely injuring one. He die...

Re: Do marine tanks absolutely need water changes at all?
Hey Hillehaus, Yea, I'm gonna keep it simple so just LR w/ the GSP in a 40 gal. Corals are a whole different ballgame and something extra I have to worry about. I can barely keep my live plants going (killed my water wisteria, altho my anarcharis is now thriving) so I dont think I wanna invest in th...

Hillehaus, you were right. Didn't take me too long to decide to go marine. Bugger. This is dangerously addicting.

Welcome! Love your husband's nickname for them. I lived in Buffalo for several years, loved visiting TO!
Also, can't wait to feed a little piece of scallop to my DP in the future! So shrimp will be OK too, PufferPunk?

Re: Dwarf Puffer Tank Setup
#1. The info you got abt cycling your tank with fish is outdated. But it's too late now. Test your water daily and do WCs accordingly (add Prime) to keep NH and Nitrites 0. #2. Do NOT get any more fish till your tank is cycled. You mentioned you were in the process of cycling your tank, and thus unc...

Re: 10 gallon tank
Be it fish, dog, parrot, horse, etc... when I take on the responsibility of pet ownership, I always look at what is best for my animal, not what I want. And just like any animal in captivity, I always go w/ bigger is best. My amazon parrot is in a macaw-sized cage, and she uses every inch of it. As ...

Re: Rocket the Abei puffer
Thanks for the update. I was teetering going with a SW puffer, but after ur input, I am just going to be patient and not settle with any other puffer. It was a toss between an Abei and a Fangs, but I know where my heart lies... and ur adorable video convinced me. Looking forward to more vids!

Re: Rocket the Abei puffer
I've driving as far as over an hour to LFSs to see if they carry Abei puffers, and make a list of the ones that I like, hopefully to source one for me eventually.
I've had my eye on them for a while now... but seems like they are very rare.
May I ask where u found yours online?

Welcome to TPF. Love ur puffers' names. Haha!
Following this thread for the replies.
I have a DP, so due to their size may be a little challenging. Love your idea of making them work for their food.

Re: Hello New to the forum
Welcome! Goooorgeous little guy.
May I ask where did you have ur puffer shipped from? I've been driving as far as an hour+ to find an Abei puffer / scoping out reputable LFS in hopes they cld find one for me in the future. Basically doing my homework, and making sure I vote ethically w/ my $$.

Re: Lethargic Dwarf Puffer
Sorry to hear abt your DP. :( I would probably do a WC, and then test the parameters. Interested in reading what others have to say... When my first DP died, I had put him in the QT away from the other DP. Good to know what the protocols are if a death occured in my main tank, with other inhabitants...
