Re: Fahaka questions
I gave him 3 small worms yesterday and he ate them all, tried him with a bigger one first but he seemed nervous of it. Then last night I tried him with a crayfish tail and a prawn, not interested. Crayfish tail and prawn this morning and the prawn got looked at and ignored but a little nibble of the...

Re: Fahaka questions
Ok that's fine. I'll read all about the signs, then probably convince myself he's got every disease under the sun, lol.Pufferpunk wrote:I don't treat unless there's signs.
Just want him in a bigger tank, eating normally and looking lively and I'll start to relax:)

Re: Urgent help to identify puffer
Yes, very pleased with him, although he's underfed. So I'll spend the next few days worrying about him and going through test kits:)DMD123 wrote:Awesome! A Fahaka is on my dream list but I have too many tanks as it is.

Re: Fahaka questions
OK, I will go for that, I tried an earthworm about 10 mins ago but think he's full for now so I removed it and the left over bloodworms.
What about the de-worming, or just assume he's good?
Thank you.

Re: Urgent help to identify puffer
If it were a Tetraodon pustulatus marked for cheap, there would be a few of us willing to take a plane ride to your parts to buy it! :D It is still a very nice puffer that would not require a huge tank.... hint, hint I know I know :) but I've bitten the bullet and got a Fahaka and ordered a custom ...

Re: Fahaka questions
Now the questions really start :) I decided against the rescue ones as the owner was very unresponsive and I just didn't feel comfortable with the situation, and getting 2 when I really only want one. So today I have got a 350 litre temporary tank, ordered a custom build 4'high*3'wide*2' deep tank a...

Re: Urgent help to identify puffer
Yes, but new to puffers and struggled, that's how I came up with the Pustulatus:)
Would you agree it is definitely not a Mekong though? I was hoping I'd come across a miracle priced fish, lol, but I do think your guess is closer than mine having looked. Damn.

Re: Fahaka questions
Big fish and small rooms or houses are tricky, to put it mildly. Also, with big tanks, not all structures offer adequate support. That is another potential hazard. If you even think about a big tank, call in a structural engineer first thing. It's going on my ground floor, all the floors are solid ...

Urgent help to identify puffer
My local fish store has this puffer identified as a Meakong puffer, or Tetradon cochinchinensis, all spelling as they have it. 2 different fish as far as I can tell. However he is already over 4" long, however I've looked at all the freshwater puffers and the one he looks most like is the Pusul...

Re: Fahaka questions
Looks like the consensus is go big, so I'm hunting. I'm picking my puffer up Saturday. Actually found a pair to rescue, that I'm paying more than fish shop price for but both are in a 3' tank together so I'll be getting a big tank for the one I keep and finding a good home for the second one, as I'v...

Re: Fahaka questions
My initial thoughts were 6 months in a 20 gallon, 12 months in a 50-60 gallon and then into the full size tank after 18 months.

Fahaka questions
We have decided we do want one of these as the main tank in the living room. There's loads of info on size, diet, etc, and especially tank size when it's an adult. However that is a big tank and as a baby, juvenile he'll look a little lost in it. What sort of size would be reasonable to start off wi...
