Re: Tank cover, yes or no
Ok thank you for all the quick responses. All very helpful information! Sorry about all the separate posts. I'm unfamiliar to forums and computers really. Trying to learn quickly. My tank did not come with a canopy so I had a plexiglass lid made. It's just annoying to remove the lighting and lid eve...

Tank cover, yes or no
First of all very sorry for all the questions right in a row but I don't kno who else to ask. My LFS hasn't given me accurate advice on most things. This should be the last one, for the night. I had a lid made for my tank. I have two beautiful pitbulls and I would hate for anything to happen to them...

Marine lighting
What type of lighting is best for a FOWLR tank? I read that puffers prefer lower lighting. I have LEDs for a reef tank but I have no coral. Is this too bright? The other light option I am looking at says its for freshwater. It's much dimmer. Which would be best?

Picky puffer
Any tips on how to successfully introduce new food? Juke( my porc) has a small variety of foods he will eat. Anything new, he spits right out. I've tried several times. I have to gut load ghost shrimp and hand feed them to him to get anything other than mysis and snails into him.

"Parked" puffer
Is it normal for puffers to sit on things? My porc likes to sit on the rocks and the protein skimmer. I thought fish are not supposed to lay down. He doesn't bottom sit but he perches on whatever is high up really. I kno some fish do this but is it ok for a puffer?

Nitrate levels
So everyone says puffers need pristine water conditions. I was wondering what the usual nitrate level people do water changes at. I do a 50% change once a week when my nitrates hit 20. Is this ok? Should I do a water change sooner?

Re: Puffer compatible fish
He looks similar to a couple of those pictures. How many different types of porcs are there? My profile pic is my porc Juke. Is that a common porcupine puffer? I would guess yes but not entirely sure. He doesn't seem to bother the damsel, he's fast! I hope he doesn't start to. He is definitely well ...

Re: Puffer compatible fish
I've heard that clowns can b aggressive. And I have a FOWLR tank and clowns prefer reef. All I have for fish other than my porc is the one small damsel. I had to find a new home for my angel and I don't want the same problem. I don't want to over crowd. I don't kno if juke is a common porc or not bu...

Right now their in a 150g. So I'm only researching future mates. I'm looking at a 300g. I kno 150 is not large enough for a porc but he's only 4".

Puffer compatible fish
I recently had to rehome a beautiful dwarf potters angel that I loved due to aggression issues towards my porcupine puffer. All I have in my tank now is the porc and a yellowtail blue damsel. My tank looks kinda lonely and I'm considering 1 or 2 new fish. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions f...

Re: puffed up porc
Oh awesome! Thank you. It is a pretty amazing thing to see. Especially in person and when it's your own fish.
