Re: Green Water

Fixed the problem and i have crystal clear water again. The lace rock in my tank was leaching loads of metals into the water. Must've just been a bad batch of rock. All is well again! =D

Re: Green Water

I figured something out, i think. I did a 50% WC and in natural light (from outside) the water looks orange instead of green. I also noticed the big piece of dead coral i had in my tank was turning orange around the bottom "trunk" area. It's now removed, 50% fresh SW, cleaned filter and 2 ...

Green Water

So, a 48 hour total blackout, plus polypad did nothing for my green water. I'm going out in a few minutes in search for a willow tree to try the branch method. Any other "remedies" that anybody knows about?

Re: Cloudy water

You said your tank is going through this now. Do i just need to wait it out and it will eventually go away or what?

Re: Cloudy water

I'm not quite at full SW at the moment, but i guess any amount of salinity would be considered salt water. Do i just need to wait it out? No or little to no lighting?

Re: Cloudy water

I'm assuming i just had an explosion of algae from what i've looked up. Nothing bad, just very unsightly.

Re: Cloudy water

So, this water has pretty much turned the water in my tank green. Hardness was waaaay up. Just did a 15% WC and no change in color and now i'm out of tests. I'll go to my LFS tomorrow and get the water tested.

Re: Cloudy water

The water is heated, yes.

I mix the salt after i fill the container. I don't just dump it in either. I sprinkle it in around the whole container than slosh it around a buuuunch with the measuring cup.

Cloudy water

I'm in the process of mixing 10g of saltwater using Instant Ocean marine salt. The water has been mixing for over 24 hours but it's still a little cloudy. I've been checking the bottom of the container and there's no salt gathered on the bottom. I don't have a powerhead in the tank (since i have non...
