Re: Skinny puffer, weird belly

How have you been using the IP treatment? Are you following dosing directions on the box, or what exactly?

Re: getting new juvi dwarf puffers, I have ?'s!!!

I'd definitely recommend at least a ten gallon, because it'd be easier for you to take care of really, then you can get two DPs, as well. 10 gallons are really easy to come across too. You can find them at yard sales, and on places like craigslist (cheap too). Just keep researching everything, becau...

Re: How to feed earthworms?

Tank conditions can really matter as RTR says.

You could try cutting the worms up though. I have two eels who I chop worms up for, because they won't eat them whole. Also, his "teeth" aren't over grown, are they?

Re: breeding apple snails for fahaka

+1 to bertie's comment, which actually is quite an understatement. The big snails are painfully slow to grow unless very large and well- maintained tanks are dedicated to growing them. As they deposit their egg clusters most often on the cover glass or on emergent plants above the water line, the a...

Re: Whats this on my glass? Bacteria, weird algae? Please ad

There is no downside to large-scale water changes provided that the tank and replacement water parameters are comparable. If they are not comparable, osmotic shock is always possible. Flow-through tanks in public aquaria frequently get more than that level of changes daily, as do some commercial an...

Re: ghost shrimp and fahaka puffer

Why not try crays.. They are more fun to watch as well. I wouldn't breed anything in the same tank as your snails, because they're likely to eat the snail eggs. If you wanted to breed ghost shrimp secondly, they could be beneficial. However, always gut load them first. And it will take quite a few ...

Re: New to puffers but have fallen in love!

Figure 8 puffers are low-end brackish fish, who do best with an SG of 1.003-1.006. The lower end of that range is when using aragonite sand, which you already use. If the tank is already cycled no point in dropping it back down to FW, just drip acclimate the fish, and he'll be fine. Others will chi...

Like other said, feed him a bit more, and feed more variety. He needs way more than just shrimp. Also look for a liquid vitamin to soak his food in before feeding it to him.

Re: Why did my heater explode?

Were you doing a water change or anything at the time? Sometimes temperature fluctuations will cause a heater to bust like that.

Look into a tight fitting lid, because those things love to climb out of the tank and go carpet surfing.

Re: Question on filter for F8

I love that sound! I hate that sound. My tanks MUST stay topped off at ALL times, or I go insane. My fish tank are in my bedroom, so they can make it difficult to sleep. I also always seem to get sand stuck in my filter, so they're now ruined and make a grinding sound. It's absolutely terrible when...

Talk about time consuming! I guess this is better than sitting around saying "I'm bored" though.

Re: My F8 Tank

Just wanted to ask, is your heater adjustable? Not having an adjustable heater was the entire downfall of one of my friend's tanks a year or so ago.
