Re: Stunning Pao (Monotrete) abei shipment (2x)
Silly chubby fish. I think it sees itself in the glass reflecting back. Its tail will fan out as a display in short spurts. I have never seen a pufferfish do this in my presence. Yesterday was an off day for shrimp treats, so it could be something to do with some spunk in attitude toward me as I kee...

Re: FINALLY getting schoutedeni!
Little water dogs!
Personally, they are not they best looking puffer I have ran across, but they take the #1 spot for personality.
You sir, are going to be in for a treat.
Great choice of fish.

Re: Anyone run a powerhead in a Schoutedeni tank?
Update: Schoutedeni in 3 tanks using a combination of hang on AC70 filters and Tidal series 110 and 75 models along with Cobalt MJ900 pumps connected to sponge for a giant bio factory of denitrification. Schoutedeni don't mind a bit. They even mated and laid eggs. Pea puffers have a powerhead magnet...

Re: Stunning Pao (Monotrete) abei shipment (2x)
Actually I might have to update my statement above. With the new pictures, your puffers fit the desription (diagnosis) of P. cochinchinensis quite well: "adults with ocellus, sometimes red, but most commonly made of a large black blotch surrounded by a paler area and a series of more or less c...

Re: My palembang/dragon/humpback puffers
NJD, Thanks for the updates. I'm new to the medium/larger puffers. This takes time, but I did learn that tearing bits of shrimp into small chunks about the size of the eyeball of most of my puffers keeps it clean. The big whole pieces of thawed shrimp make messes. In my opinion, puffers chew and spi...

Re: Palembang - seriously tempted
I wish you could show us the differences if any in the 5 fish you had seen. Anyhow, this one seems to be a great fish we snagged for $50. Seen below with a 6 inch plastic container. http://i67.tinypic.com/2m6n5du.jpg http://i63.tinypic.com/103ftko.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/24d37le.jpg http://i63.ti...

Re: Stunning Pao (Monotrete) abei shipment (2x)
The first three pictures of this thread look like P. turgidus to me, the last three could be P. abei and the remaining one is hard to identify, because the snout is not visible (but probably not abei). Here's an illustration that shows the typical two color patterns (depending on mood and breeding)...

Re: Stunning Pao (Monotrete) abei shipment (2x)
Pao abei? I still think I bought 2 of something else. The two look different as seen in my first post), but may have something to do with males vs females. Pictured 1st below, is the pretty one of our two recently purchased abei puffers. The 2nd photo below is a site selling a Pao turgidus....hmmm? ...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
Thanks. I will. I'll be more open this weekend. Overtime scheduled at work is draining. This is a portion of it. The second photo is a separated schoutedeni in a 40 breeder, half lighted, and half anubias/low light species of plants (3 algae eating otos in there too). I have 5 together and 2 more in...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
OHHHHHH NOOOOOOO! Schoutedeni Eggs everywhere last night. It looks like hundreds. As I refilled the tank during a water change, the the eggs started blowing everywhere. At least I know somebody is bumpin' and grinding. Someday I will have some more preparation and experience of what do when I see th...

Re: Stunning Pao (Monotrete) abei shipment (2x)
I have 4 tanks to fill with puffers. Where did you order them from? Hi Pufferpunk! Sorry, I don't use a phone connected to internet reply systems and have to manually come back and dig for replies. The store was the WetSpot in Oregon. They do a good enough job for me not to hit any negative points....

Re: Stunning Pao (Monotrete) abei shipment (2x)
Hmmmm? Something may be fishy! I had purchased a set of 2 or 3 Pao Abei, whatever they could fulfill on the order. What I got...not sure yet. Today, I saw a few posts and a a couple of new (puffer) names on the forum and image searched. Did I get Pao leiurus or something? The photo in the link shows...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
Everybody is still ok of the 5 skinnies! They chase, sometimes nip and are wonderful for personality still. I do have 2 separate schoutedeni to total 7 and would say, they are some of the best puffers I've ran across. Thanks for the forum support. On a separate note, I just went full sprint puffer t...
