Re: HELP! pea puffer is not right...
You've double checked your temp right? Constipation sometimes they are swollen, you haven't noticed them poo in a while. Sometimes its something like this.. something is off, they aren't eating and you're not sure what else to try. Its been a long time since I've looked into it but I believe you can...

Re: Puffer Eye Hemorrhage?
Aww poor guy. Glad he's doing better. Wonder if he got himself wedged in somewhere and stuck, and got his eye scraped/bruised while trying to get out. You know how they love to explore every little crack..

Re: Black Belly on my GSP
Water changes almost never hurt, as long as you don't change the salinity by too much and crash the biological filter. Doing the tests above (especially ammonia) will tell you if that happened, which is why people tell you to do it :) Is his belly sunken in, or still nicely rounded, just black. Can ...

Re: HELP! pea puffer is not right...
First reaction is always do a water change just in case something got in the tank (lotion on your wife's hands, some sort of cleaning spray, etc). Second reaction, try not to panic.. puffers will EASILY go weeks without eating. You'll probably stress her out more by trying to force feed her. As long...

Re: Water Cycle Advise From Aqua Shop
Are you referring to a tank newly set up or an established tank and how you do water changes? The chlorine in your water can be uncomfortable to your fish and can also damage or kill off part of your good bacteria. By doing a water change with chlorinated water, you risk those problems. Will it cras...

Re: Keeping nerite snails with gsp?
Isn't there a possible issue with their shells being so hard that the puffers can break their teeth off on them? I thought I remember something about that.. and if they break off under the gumline it can cause infection and problems eating, etc..

Re: Walmart
I recently purchased two GSP's. After 3 hours of driving from store to store and being told by all that they no longer carry puffers, I ended up at Walmart.. granted, this particular Walmart actually has healthy looking fish, and someone hand wrote care info and posted it on the tanks. I don't want ...

Some server maintence tonight
Hello all, I'm going to be uploading some software to our host server tonight. This should NOT affect the live board at all, but we all know how things that *should* work one way often do something unexpected in the world of software ;) If the site goes down, grab your towel and don't panic! I'll ha...

Here's the same article we had on this site before the library zonked out:
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_4/ ... Puffer.htm
I always found my females were significantly larger than males.. mostly belly, but definitely larger. That was when fully mature though.

Re: ANY Tank mates at all ???
Bubba (turgidus) will not bite me unless I annoy him, such as if I wave a piece of shrimp in his face when he's not hungry. Then he'll swim around the shrimp and very deliberately bite my hand.
Oh, he can't resist nail polish though..

Re: ANY Tank mates at all ???
Oh he'll eat snails :) I don't know that I'd go with nerites as they have really hard shells and the puffer can break their teeth on them (same with malaysian trumpet snails). Apple snails, yes, obviously the puffer will bite chunks out of them and torture them to death. Anything you put in there th...
