Re: Pea Puffers and Shrimp?
Agreed, but it also depends on the type of shrimp. Something like a bamboo shrimp I wouldn't do, but 2 or 3 ghost shrimp would have little impact. Just wait for the tank to be more established and if possible include a decent number of live plants.

Re: Anybody own wild shiners?
Truthfully, I would be surprised if no. Essentially no demand for them. This is very puffer specific, you would probably be better off in the "native" section of Monster Fish Keepers tbh

Re: Special Petco
Yeah, there's one like that in Needham, MA. They get in a lot of rare plecos, even L46 a couple of times. Not too many puffers other than GSPs, but one time there was a Miurus.

Re: SAP surfing glass
Hi guys, do you guys know how to stop my SAP from surfing up and down the glass? For some reason, it does it at a specific time, and goes to do other stuff at another specific time. Do you guys know how to stop this surfing madness (not really madness)? I put rocks to block the puffer from looking ...

Re: is this a genuine tetradon pustulatus/cross river puffer
I am very tempted, but need to figure out exactly where to house it!! I have a 3 footer that is immediately available, but don't currently have any spare 5/6 footers without moving around a few different tanks. would 3x1.5 ft do temporarily? Temporarily, yes. However, you will need pretty soon need...

Re: Dwarf Puffer Feeding
Guppies would probably have fins bitten but would not be eaten, since dwarf puffers are too small and do not eat fish anyway. Ghost shrimp are large and hard to catch as well, but if you could get a smaller variety such as cherries then that should work. For snails, I'd just go with the smallest ram...

Re: is this a genuine tetradon pustulatus/cross river puffer
Oh wow that definitely looks like a true T. Pustulatus to me. I say go for it, probably the rarest species of freshwater puffer there is aside from the ones like P. Barbatus that people aren't that interested in.

Yeah glad to help! Post a pic once you add however many puffers you decide to. You also may be able to do 1 DP as well as 6 neon tetras or 3 dwarf corydoras.

Re: Opinions on Tank Set Up for 1 to 3 DP's?
Definitely looks good for 1. I wouldn't do the castle without taking other things out, as you want them to have a decent amount of space for swimming. Having a group of 3 would be tricky... I don't want to say that you can't do it, but it would be a pretty small space for that number. Usually I say ...

Re: The savage
Has anybody on here ever actually been bitten by a puffer? I'm extra cautious, i don't put my hands actually in the tanks other than my schoutedeni tank but they're only 2-3 cm at the moment! Schoutedeni are harmless. I've been bitten by my congo who took a small bit of my finger, needed a few stit...

Re: Preparing for first DPs: quarantining multiple before planted display tank, aggression
Got it, in that case I would say just quarantine each puffer in its own small tank, even like those 1.5 gallon betta tanks you can get for $30 each would work. You could also put like 6 or more in a large tank, and with that many they are less likely to need sight broken up.
