snails can grow anywhere. I have mine in a 5gallon green bucket with an aquaclear 150 on it. I need to get a heater though cause its getting cold int he house and we dont use much heat to save on the bills and the enviroment.

They are in the dark most of the time and dont seem to mind.

trying to get mine to eat frozen krill, atleast small pieces. I put it on a bambo stick and leave it in the tank a few hours. So afr the ghost shrimp are the only ones eating it. My little dp doesnt seemed bothered, although, given he has snails in the tank which means i think he prefers live food.

yea, my dp goes over every inch of the tank and when he comes across a snail, eyes it up, circles it, waits for it, waits for it, waits for it....crunch.

I just thought of a name for my dp a few days ago, have had him for about a week or so.

Decided to go with "Splinter" as in Splinter Cell. The little guy is one hell of a sneaky stealthy killer, always stalking out potential prey(snails).

i have to agree with the oto's(although i've only had mine a short time). I currenty have 3 and they roam around the tank in a group mimicing the game "leap frog." I had one by itself for a few days and it was quite inactive, but almost as soon as i added additional ottos, he along with th...

Sure enough he was weaving in and out of the plants and whatnot. And when he came up to greet me, he had a nice little round tummy, so he must have ate som...

well, he is hunting. Actively prowling the tank bottom for tiny snail'lings.

i dropped an algae waffer in the tank to localize them.

He has ignored the larger pond snails so far, only looking for tiny ones.

Brought a dwarf home with me.

Ok, i finally purchased a dwarf puffer today. I must spent a good 30 minutes infront of the tank before selecting one. He's doing good so far, but he's pacing the glass. I mean, check the puffer pics forum for a pic of my tank. its not barren, its got a good amount of plants and cover, but he is sti...

that, and one can be artsy with the planting/setup which makes it an addictive hobby, just like gardening/landscaping.

It also adds a natural beauty value to one's home where one can showoff his or her fruits(its nice when friends have no idea).
