Re: Ich or not?
After the second treatment there was no more visible ich, so tomorrow I’m moving them out of the quarantine tank. I’m hoping that the added stability of the bigger tank and the less cramped conditions will prevent the ich form resurfacing.

Re: Ich or not?
It seems to be a pretty persistent strain, one of them still has about 3 little dots now 3 days after I added the meds.
I guess I’ll need to do a second treatment tomorrow.

Re: Heavily Planted tank advice
For the current tank (the 15gal, upper pic) I’m using an old dennerle co2 reducer with integrated solenoid I won back in 2012 in a local scaping contest. I’ve got it hooked up to a simple PH controller set to about 6.8, giving me a constant Co2 level around 20ppm. Before that I used a timer to turn ...

Re: Heavily Planted tank advice
BTW also 2 cats here one of which absolutely loves water, so I don't have any tanks without lids either.
And always heavily plant my aquariums, but I do dose NPK, micro's and add co2.

Re: Heavily Planted tank advice
This is my current 60cm aquarium (15gal) with a lid, I used 3 led beams from a local brand. It's not an aquascape tank but I would consider it heavily planted: https://i.imgur.com/qJjQZuv.jpg And a previous one, also with lid: https://i.imgur.com/iq3Ee6l.jpg So in my opinion you can perfectly have a...

Re: Ich or not?
Sera protazol, the shop had positive experience with this medicine and SAP's. You dose the medication as suggested and do an 80% waterchange after 24 hours unless the water gets cloudy then you need to do the wc immediately. Repeat after 4-5 days if necessary. I did the full dose 2 days ago, so the ...

Re: keeping Tetraodon Schoutedeni
I really hope I'll get a chance to breed them, but that depends on them off course
But right now I'm battling ick again, so breeding isn't really the focus right now...

Re: Ich or not?
I'm again seeing some ich, it's on the smaller, more skinny puffer of the 2. Could it be the stress of the daily water changes? Although I did so with equal temperature water then the tank. I've added the devider today that should also help in case of stress. I've upped the temp again. But I'm think...

Re: keeping Tetraodon Schoutedeni
have you tried breeding some ramshorn snails to feed them. most will go nuts for those. a small snail breeding tank with puffers is a must imo Yeah I have an old 20l tank in the cabinet with bladder- and ramshorn snails. Just wanted to get some variety in their diet besides the snails and earthworms.

Re: keeping Tetraodon Schoutedeni
It seems I might have been happy a bit too early  The skinny ones absolutely loves the garlic bloodworms, the other one can't seem to figure out how to eat them and keeps spitting them out, while the other is like a little vacuum sucking them up one by one. I've tried white, black mosquito lar...

Yeah, can't imagine there're a lot garlic cloves floating around in the Congo riverPufferpunk wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 12:14 pm Yay! Isn't it weird that fish prefer garlic-flavored foods?

Re: Quick Question About BB
If it was 100% certain IP then I can’t help but wonder why the treatment didn’t work, or was the fish simply too far along to be saved? I would expect parasites to die in a dry environment without a host, yes. But If I’m not mistaken some types reproduce with eggs, I don’t know how long those can re...

Re: Quick Question About BB
Personally I would've disinfected everything before setting it up again. I would not use the same substrate if I suspected parasites. Especially something that didn't react to the initial treatment. Personally I'd do an overdosed treatment while there's no animals in there. Something anti-fungal, an...

Re: keeping Tetraodon Schoutedeni
Today I gave bloodworms another try, but this time I soaked them in some Vitachem and garlic guard(that stuff stinks, had to air the room afterwards ) and added a drop of de-worming medication. Like last time they picked at it a bit so I left and went to have breakfast myself but this time when...
