Re: T. Ocellatus Rescue

Just keep an eye on the water parameters. You should be okay until you are ready to upgrade.

PP- Sorry it took so long. I had to dig up the draft. :)

Remember that you can still pick up your copy of FAMA and read the article in print and see all the beautiful pictures of Sushi for yourselves.

Thanks much!

Re: T. Ocellatus Rescue

Hello. Indeed this species has been exploding into America and not many people know how to properly take care of it. Your 40 breeder will be fine for now. Look into a sump and at least a 55+ in the future for him. You want his salinity at 1.022 and his temperature in the sub-tropical range of about ...

Re: Fahaka - Feeding question

My fahaka Kaiser gets crayfish about once every 2 weeks. In between he gets his regular feedings of shrimp and snails but I don't feed him daily. Probably every 3 days or so. He is 9 inches long. When he does get crayfish depending on size he will eat 5-6 of them in the course of 2 days or so. I dro...

Re: Dwarf Puffer acting funny- can't figure it out

I am thinking he could just be grumpy too. Keep an eye on him for any other changes or if he keeps up this behavior more than a week.

Re: Picky puffer

Not a problem. :) Check the library for articles on feeding and Green Spotted Puffer general care. Not many puffer will turn up their noses to clams, mussels or shrimp. You can get them in the seafood section of your grocery store and defrost them as needed in a cup of tank water. Freeze the remaini...

Re: Picky puffer

Have you tried clam, shrimp or mussel?
There is a great feeding article in the library you should check out.
Also sometimes garlic can help entice their appetite. :)
Do you give him a vitamin supplement?

Re: T. ocellatus - tail turning red?

Very nice looking puffer. Dr. Lichtenberger and I have an article coming out in October with more information on their care in captivity. I have kept and studied this species successfully for over 2 years.

Re: GSP colouring after anemone battle

Anemones can be quite deadly for puffers. You may want to consider moving one of the two.

Re: Quarantining Your Fish

Yes you can alter your tank size for the size of the fish. Most of the people I know actually use a 15-20 gallon for a quarantine. The smaller size does help though in concentrating the medication if it does have to be administered to the water versus through food. And smaller quarantines are easier...
