Re: The savage

Has anybody on here ever actually been bitten by a puffer? I'm extra cautious, i don't put my hands actually in the tanks other than my schoutedeni tank but they're only 2-3 cm at the moment! Schoutedeni are harmless . I've been bitten by my congo who took a small bit of my finger, needed a few sti...

Re: Pogo, My Abei puffer

This is exactly why you don't keep puffers in acrylic tanks! I must have missed this, as I thought it was a glass project ? hmm? I totally agree with the acrylic statement though and I'm shocked to see that a little puffer did this to glass thinking they were only rub marks not scratches. Older pos...

Re: Large dp tank

I have a 45 cube set, planted and ready to go for my first tank to my puffer room. Im interested to know what some think about having a large community of dwarf puffers will be like They will be fine in a bigger tank and love it. 8 dwarfs are in a 24x24x30 tower with the driftwood maze. Tip #1. Hav...

Re: Pogo, My Abei puffer

I can answer that. Permanent. Beaks and teeth don't rub Wow. Thanks for the teeth/glass update. Pogo seems like a spunky little handfull. :grats: I would be a bit sad to see them do this as I have acquired fairly nice display tanks. At the saltwater stores, I do see the actions you described as the...

The scratch topic is new to me.
I see they can break snail shell and likely our fingernail with ease.

Are the scratches in the glass permanent or some sort of rub marks?

Re: Are these abei or ...?

Do you think these are Abei's? If not - what else? I just went through this. I'm about certain I have 2 turgidus. A few months ago, I bought two ($40 each) "sold-as" abei that most people say are now Turgidus. They look like yours purchased from Wetspot, Oregon. 2018 summer season. 201809...

Re: Pogo, My Abei puffer

Behavior wise, he's lazy and malevolent. He spends most of his time laying in his favorite spot until I come around. Then he begs. If you've ever had experience with undulated triggers, you know what I deal with. No cords in the tank. Extremely cautious whenever hands are in or even near the water....

Look for some Red Worms in the bait section at stores or shovel up a corner of a healthy part of the yard where no fakey made-made ferts are heavily dumped.

Re: Pogo, My Abei puffer

Very nice!
Thanks for the pics.
Flickr (photo sharing cloud-site) is a great place to store your pics as well as having the codes for those pics to paste into forum formats.

How is it as for behavior?
Where did it come from?

I was after these, but the store gave me two Turgidus sold as Abei.

Re: They arrived!! New Baileyi and Suvatti

I've very quickly become a big hairy puffer fan! I've discovered a shop that has a fully grown one in with lots of hair....can I justify setting up 2 extra tanks in one week?? hmmm!! 2 interesting tank I have here are the Seapora 60g, 48x15x16 high, and the other being the 33g long, (like a 20 long...

Vitachem ($$) in the water Waste of $$$ adding ANYTHING into their water you want the fish to get inside of them. FW fish do NOT drink water. That would save a few ounces of the Vitachem liquid for sure. I feel better knowing I only did it a few times, but soak food regularly. Thanks for the tip. T...

Re: Keeping plants alive in puffer tanks

Anubias plants are thick and can take a beating. The Anubias nana petite are small. They are in a 24x24x30 tower on the left with eight pea puffers. Tiny leaves. Tiny puffers sleep in them. Before the new year, I'll be able to post a few pics of what bigger puffers (palembangenis/dragon, Turgidus/ta...
