Purigen in the filter should suck it right out.

Re: Getting Figure 8's on Friday
I boil my driftwood, which has the dual benefit of sucking most of the tannins out and getting it waterlogged very quickly. If yours is big enough to fit into a pot, I'd definitely recommend it!

Yes, googles! And while your wife has the camera in one hand, perhaps she can have a lamp in the other to mimic different light angles.

Re: Another one bites the dust.
I'm beginning to wonder if you have an aggressive fish who only attacks at night. Every single new DP I put in the tank would be stuck to the intake the next day. My LFS was kind enough to replace them. Until I actually sat & watching the goings on at night. My larger DP is a killer! I can't di...

I'm glad to hear that the owner did the right thing. Gives me a little faith in humanity.
Nothing wrong with having two puffer tanks, though. I plan on starting another for a Figure 8 next year.

Re: Another one bites the dust.
The thought occurred to me, which is why I was checking for bite marks, fin damage, more fungus... anything I could see visually. Nothing. I know that the fungus got the first one, and the IPs took the second, because she was separated from all other fish, so nothing could have gotten to her. This t...

We need photographic evidence. Just to be sure.bertie 83 wrote:I found zero reflection with all manor of lighting, having my head in a bag and dunking did not work, the bag poked me in the eye, do not try this at home kids.

Re: Getting Figure 8's on Friday
I hope it goes well, it's the adding salt thing that's got me nervous :? Am going to let them settle in for a couple of weeks first though, so might do a dummy run to check I'll be doing it right  Cant wait to see your tank when it's ready, will you be doing a F8 log? Hope so, you can pass on ...

Re: Melafix Smell ?
I think you got ripped off on that first bottle. Melafix has a very distinct and powerful tea tree oil scent.

Re: Another one bites the dust.
I got them for 2.99 + 30% off. The store closest to me has them for 8 a piece.
PP, I used Pimafix and Melafix for that week of fungus treatment after I lost the first DP. Their IP medicine was the Jungle fizzy tabs.

Clearly, we need to find one of those children's periscopes that RTR mentioned.

Re: Another one bites the dust.
Thanks, guys... I'm trying to cool down, but it's just... argh. This all makes sense, but it's still upsetting. The place I got them from is about 2 hours away, because they were having a big sale. Their guarantee on fish is only 5 days, so that's out. There is a place a bit closer, 45 minutes, but ...

Another one bites the dust.
Alright, now I'm just ticked. I'm not even sad anymore. Just ticked . Woke up to another dead DP. She was absolutely fine by all outward appearances and behavior yesterday. I inspected her after removing her from the tank, and she still appears to be normal, aside from the fact that she passed. Ammo...
