Re: Fluval FX5, FX6 or Eheim 2262

I've used Fluval Canister filters for decades until the last one that I bought (design change from previous model). The redesign is pure garbage, as is their customer service. Though it's a different model design than the ones you're considering, it soured me on the whole brand. I'd look toward the ...

Re: Do dwarf puffers travel well?

I transported mine for 9-10 hrs in a Home Depot bucket & lid with an air stone run by an inexpensive air pump with an inverter plugged into the lighter socket in my car. There was enough water in the covered bucket to keep the temperature stable. At the destination, I added a heater to the bucke...

Re: DPs and planaria

I don't know about other fish forums, but when members here become aware that someone has planaria, we tend to shift into a mode that is based upon the these facts: 1) the population of planaria is regulated by the amount of waste available (planaria food). 2) overstocking & overfeeding almost a...

Re: DPs and planaria

Seriously picoverd, the key to dealing with this is to change the conditions that are supporting them.
Clean the place up.
Also, your tank is grossly overpopulated.
Thin out the herd.
It's all about the fish!

Re: How many times to change the filter

what size of tank, what kind of filter, what kind of filter media, how often does it get dirty, how many fish, tankmates, what kind of foods, how much food do they leave behind and do you pick up the leftovers right away, do you stir the sand regularly, how often do you change water...............? ...

Re: Confusing reoccurring problem, DPF

Hi All - Sorry for the slow reply - I didn't see the topic post and so I missed the replies. Seems to me that grossly overstocked is a bit of an overstatement. but I do highly doubt that they are so inaccurate that they don't register any nitrite in an ammonia-polluted tank. But I am wondering if t...

Re: Confusing reoccurring problem, DPF

10 gallon tank grossly overstocked, should have no more than 2-3 in a 10 gallon under the best of circumstances!!! Pleco would be compromised by itself in that tank. Test strips are very inaccurate, need liquid test kit. I'd be willing to bet that you have an ammonia problem with such a crowded tank...
