Upgrading Red-eared slider tank
If anyone remebers my post a while ago about possibly buying a 120G for my red-eared slider's 20th birthday (I've had him since I three!), I went ahead and got it and am currently in the process of the tank build. All of the major stuff is done, just need to do some decorationg and find a super-filt...

Big +1 to this. He may not live in ideal conditions, but remember he will most likely still outlive ANY of his wild counterparts.Iliveinazoo wrote:If the aquarium won't take him then keep him and look after him as best as you can and DON'T feel guilty!

Re: Future of Birdy
4ft max could be ok, I you could do like 3-4ft width.. But I guess this suggestion is moot, as a custom tank of these dimensions would probably cost way too much...

Re: Future of Birdy
If u ever been here, public housing is extremely expensive... We live in "pigeon holes" lol... Furthermore, my tank is already way above what the authorities allow.. They probably confiscate my current tank if they know it's here.. Pond, is out of the question.. The pond was more a joke t...

Re: Sexing young dp's
I've got 2 in a 10g, pretty well planted. Aggression is nonexistent. Had 3, lost one to an equipment-related accident :/. Mind you this setup has only been up for 6 months. My 10g is standard size also, which might be why I have less aggression problems, the longer/wider the better! P.S. Nice cone-f...

Re: Future of Birdy
Unless you plan to take a plane over to Africa, please DO NOT release a species not native to your local area, it can be disastrous for the local fauna. Besides this, I honestly think he wouldn't do well, as he is not adapted to that habitat. If the aquarium doesn't accept him, I'd just say start a ...

Re: Electronic or Paper?
I prefer paper, although they become troublesome if you have too many laying around. I usually get rid of most and keep the best. Electronic is usually more expensive, but takes up only virtual room.

My turtle can't have a light or hood, and I can't think of any extras I may need short of some new fluval sponges lol =P.sgtmyers88 wrote:I would haggle and ask to have a light or hood or some other kind of accessory thrown in with the deal.

Re: feedin gsp live wild mussels
You can, but NOT fresh. I would freeze them for 48hrs prior to feeding, as they could (and are likely) to have some sort of parasite.

Re: Resealing a fairly large tank
I'd say go for it, just buy more silicone than you actually need. Resealing for the first time, you will waste A LOT of silicone and end up scraping it until you get it right. Best thing to do is practice running a couple of beads until you're happy with the results, then start on the tank for real ...

Re: Good tank deal?
Most likely I will go for the 120G. I already have a stand that fits the dimensions perfectly. Height doesn't matter, so I'm just debating whether the extra 12" length is worth an extra $80. P.S. My RES is 8" long x 6" wide. He's over 20 years old, I figure he put up with me for 2 dec...

Good tank deal?
My lfs owner offered to sell me a brand-spanking new 75G for $140, or a 120G for $220. The dimensions for the 75G are 48x18x21 and the 120G is 60X18X26.
Is this a really good deal? Im considering getting one or the other fore my red-eared slider. Thanks in advance.

Re: WTB- Searching for an F8
Honestly I haven't before, but I know how. The only part that trips up this plan is that I don't have the supplies to do so. After all is bought and after shipping, idk if you'd think the cost is worth it. I'd have to get some Kordon breather bags, styrofoam, and a heatpack. Depending on how much th...
