Re: Puffer Stocking
My F8 Luau is the only little guy in his tank and it's a 36 gallon b.f. I am afraid that he would pick on anything else that I put in there. I have tons of decor though, and he's very entertaining to watch exploring everything. After going through growing pains of having him in a 20, to now in a 36,...

Re: Mealworms
im curious... are snails and bloodworms (with blackworms if i buy them sometimes) an ok diet for f8s? Should i try out other food options? i mean she is eating like any normal puffer should eat, but i want to make sure she lives for at least 10 years or more. only thought to ask after seeing all th...

Re: Porcupine Puffer Tank & Tank Mates
yeah, if i were you and wanted to 'test out' tankmates, knowing they might not live, id try to get at least a 200g tank. ill leave the tankmate options for someone else to comment on as i have no experience with porcupine pufers or saltwater. Good person to ask is chuckfriedrice. Petey was in a tan...

Lion fish mixed with puffers always ends up badly. Get them separated, and make sure you have a big enough tank for your G.F. puff with sufficient filtration.

Mealworms
Hey there, So, I have been giving a varied diet of crickets, mealworms, ghost shrimp, red cherry shrimp, pond snails and ramshorn snails mostly to Luau and Yoshi since PZ really only likes to eat bloodworms. She won't even go after crushed snails. When I bought the meal worms, the guy told me that t...

Tank Makeovers
So, the bf has been working all weekend. He's moving our HQ from San Jose to Palo Alto, so needless to say, it's been a VERY boring weekend. I have long since been unhappy with my 10 gallon-- can't decide whether to rehome PZ and get a betta, take it down all together so I have one less water change...

Re: I wonder what they put in the water...
That's awesome! LoL I took a pic of your kitchen picture with my phone to send to my bf. He was complaining about the lack of wall space in the apartment because of my fish tanks. I told him to quit complaining cause it could be a lot worse hahaha. I wish you were closer. I would love a tank with a ...

Re: 47 Gallon tank, f8 on his own??
Their personalities emerge and I think you will be fine with only one tank and one puff. In the future when it's feasible, and you want to add another tank with water transfers, do so, but don't stress out about it now. Just make sure your one puff is happy, healthy and entertained in his tank firs...

Re: 47 Gallon tank, f8 on his own??
If you have two fish of the same species, there will almost always be a top dog and an under dog. The top dog's lifespan will not be affected much if at all, the under dog's lifespan will be reduced. It does seem that dominance is less stressful than submission, or perhaps less frustrating - whatev...

Re: 47 Gallon tank, f8 on his own??
K after this, I will give the thread back, but yes I would do 90+ gallons for 3 little fish haha. You have to think of how big they are going to be long term, also, RTR mentioned something about PP's status: solution to pollution is dilution. If you have 3 F8's in a 60 gallon, if you miss a water ch...

Re: Small Scare Tonight
I had a small scare tonight as I came back home from my evening class I went over to check up and say hi to my GSP's and noticed that they had grey bellys and stress lines and their green was a very dull color. But as they saw me and started swimming toward the glass the stress lines and dark belli...

Re: 47 Gallon tank, f8 on his own??
Hmm I seriously wouldn't do that unless I had 30 gallons per fish. I had Luau in a 20 gallon, and IMO, that's too small even though we say bare min is 15 gallons. Luau and Hula were in a 29 gallon and there were still dominance issues. Unless I could boast a 90+ gallon tank, I don't think it would b...
