I finally got my irrubesco!! For real this time.
I was moping about contemplating weather I should get a schoutedeni or Poa Bailey and I didn’t feel happy about either. 3 years I have desperately searched for my irrubesco, and had more heartbreak and let downs than all my Xs gave me in one! Out of nowhere I check eBay. There they are. 3 irrubesco ...

Re: Puffer ID please
In the first photo he’s got a male Lorteti look to his face and body shape, however yeah- little dude looks to be a cutcuia. A very lovely one at that, never seen such thick, dark red edging in the tail- usually it’s a thinner line of red! Plus the pattern on the forehead is a good tell! How big is ...

Re: DPs and planaria
Depends if the Kangaroo fights back, I bet there'd be loads of lions that wouldn't want to take on a full grown 6' male Red Kangaroo in his prime. I've seen a documentary where 1 lion killed and ate a Honey Badger, I've seen another documentary where a mother Honey Badger successfully fought off a ...

Re: DPs and planaria
As I stated earlier... they don’t exhibit traits their natural food does. And again, they aren’t a cleanup crew, they are picky as hell. One of the first things we learn as puffer Keepers issss?!?! They are a specialty fish who’s behavior and specified needs must be worked around and anticipated. Ex...

Re: DPs and planaria
Thanks PP, I agree. OK, they don’t eat them bc they don’t exist in their natural habitat. DPs are picky, and are never known as the “eat all cleanup crew”. PLUS planaria, TRUE REAL planaria isn’t a free swimming worm, so the DPS don’t mistake it for bloodworms etc, they’re very smart fish as most pu...

Re: DPs and planaria
Erich. I gotta stop the fight. DETRITUS worms are from over feeding. Planaria are thick flatfish red worms and they aren’t naturally found in tanks. I rescue and rehab, have done it since my first fish, and they CAN hurt little fish. http://www.aquarium-pond-answers.com/2007/03/trematodes-and-nemato...

Re: T. Schoutedeni
I would love to get a “home bred” schoutedeni, how absolutely incredible!!! Please let us know how it goes, and don’t be afraid to ask questions- rearing puffer fry can be harder then raising human kids (well, keeping them alive until they’re Juvis anyway 🤣)! Got any pics, who doesn’t love babies (e...

Re: Please help me ID my new puffer!!
What a cutie. It’s a lady dwarf puffer/pea puffer: Carinotetraodon Travancoricus, one of the very few sexually dimorphic puffs (can tell the sex’s apart). Males have tell-tale wrinkles behind their eyes, they’re more iridescent lines that look like wrinkles- but the absence of the wrinkles in additi...

Re: Baby Fahaka is Sick
Pp is right- parameters are big, include GH and KH please. Sounds to me like he has IPs and is shedding his slime coat. With all internal issues, it must be treated from within, and it sounds like you’re treating the water (which FW fish don’t ingest or drink their water like salt fish do) and that ...

Re: New puffer not doing well
PPs right, other than that- it’s Pipette force feeding meds. And to be very honest, unless the DP is full grown, and even then... it’s a gamble and is hard with mouths and feedings that small. Not impossible, just hard work.

Re: Company Puffers
I apologize for the late reply, I didn’t see your post! I personally do keep many different species of FW puffer! I have a couple C. Travancoricus (pea puffs like yours), P. Cochinchinensis (fangs puffer), T. Miurus (potatoe puffer), and a P. Palembangensis (Dragon or humpback puffer- who’s actually...

Re: Dwarf puffer with eye protrusion
Also, you must get that Amonia down. Puffs are extremely sensitive to nitrites and ammonia and should not be put into a tank that isn’t cycled: I would do a 50% water change ASAP and get some SeaChem stability. Keep up the water changes

Re: Dwarf puffer with eye protrusion
1.) source? Where did they come from 2) treated for parasites?? If so what did you use and how 3.) are you 100% it’s the eye, it almost looks look a parasite coming out the gills. External and internal parasites are very common in puffers, especially wild caught. I have peas as well and I KNOW how h...
