Re: Dwarf puffers tank
I'd agree with with Puffer punk for long tanks, but I've learned one thing as an exception. My 8 DP are happy in a 24x24x30 tall, but there is driftwood stacked from top to bottom. The roost in the nook of the branches at night and cruise all levels of the tank cleaning house of any pest snails. ***...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
they are VERY emaciated they may have a serious case of IPs. if they looked like the picture in your first post when delivered, I'd REALLY take exception. who did you order them from? I've ordered fish to ship to me, and none have ever looked like something that I wouldn't purchase in person. I'd h...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
I have bought fish from the same seller you did and I've always been pleased with my purchases. To be fair I have never bought fish as expensive as your puffers, but all the fish I have bought (cichlids, tetras, catfish) have been healthy. They do arrive skinny, but bulk up over a few days. I remem...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
they don't look too good. have you been in touch with the seller, sent pictures? when you requested pre-shipping pictures, how much time went by between the request for pictures and the shipping of the fish? We started talking about an order in mid May. May 17th started a good amount of email repli...

Re: Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
Today is Sunday the 17th of June, and this is currently day 2 for them in my possession. They all try to eat. When I turn my pumps down to the minimum for feedings, they get real lazy and sit on the bottom. As soon as I turn the flow up, even the weak looking skinnies get happy and zip lightly in th...

Skinny and delayed Tetraodon schoutedeni (spotted congo) shipment
Hello puffer fans, Here we go. Day 1: There was a delivery of five Tetraodon schoutedeni puffers set for an overnight or 24 hour next day arrival. It was seen in the carrier's online tracking system to arrive in 24hrs by noon the next day after the store shipped. Somehow the carrier missed the date/...

Re: Feeding behavior of baby T. schoutedeni
Sorry, I cannot help with babies, but Oliver Knott on the internet has a ton of love from Germany for the schoutedeni and some good info to follow. He may be able to help you find some answers on your schoutedeni youngster. I just bought a crud ton of food to figure out this Congo schoutedeni thing....

Re: Tetraodon palembangensis tank preparation
Do not feed your fish frozen food! It is extremely bad for their digestive system. Puffers need a variety of different crunchy foods in their diet. https://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/library/feeding/feeding-your-puffers/ Just to clarify, there is a store owner who had a past MBU puffer that had i...

Re: T. Schoutedeni
'Excited for more again. Holy paycheck blackhole. 5 more on the way if all goes well this next week. Seven total when finalized. We quarantined a good amount of plants that finally made it to the numerous driftwood structures in the schoutedeni puffer tanks. So far these puffers love the live plants...

Re: Feeding behavior of baby T. schoutedeni
Nice. Thanks for the updates. It seems keepers don't seem to share much on these fish these days for as much technology and cameras we have. The correct hashtags on Instagram have led me to some new findings that Google could not pick-up by a search by recent date and the schoutedeni. astrid37, Do y...

Re: Tetraodon schoutedeni on the way- advice needed
As for food, we are getting two results so far. The two Tetraodon schoutedeni have different tastes in food. One Tetraodon schoutedeni really really likes thawed blood worms as well as Ramshorn snails and has passes on the live organic earthworm and live black worms lately. The 2nd Tetraodon schoute...

Re: Anyone run a powerhead in a Schoutedeni tank?
Sponge .jpg Powerheads are in two basic fashions. One is the type that looks like a small pump and the 2nd is the one that moves water looking like a home use floor fan. I run a Cobalt MJ900 water pump jammed into a decently open porosity round hydro-sponge protecting the inlet like a pre-filter wo...

Re: Considering second t. schoutedeni
Hi! Thanks for yours and Pufferpunk's replies :). That is interesting about your having to separate two schoutedeni and also about your pea puffers. I really appreciated your suggestions on the light diffuser thingy and also the black zip ties. I will check out the diffuser and can already think of...

Re: reef ready for freshwater?
Sumps/overflows don't usually work well with CO2. All the water movement pulls the CO2 right out of the system. Canister is the way to go for planted tanks, in my experience. I've read that too. I have had two sumped tanks with fairly easy plants running a 2 pipe "Herbie Drain" and a sepa...

Re: Considering second t. schoutedeni
So my husband decided to get me a second t. schoutedeni for my birthday as a surprise. I'm calling her a "she" for now, because that's what I am hoping she is, as I think my first is male. She is t-i-n-y, especially in comparison to him. I think she's probably only about 10-12 weeks old o...
