Re: Split topic - Maracyn use
Disease-causing microbes that have become resistant to drug therapy are an increasing public health problem. Tuberculosis, gonorrhea, malaria, and childhood ear infections are just a few of the diseases that have become hard to treat with antibiotic drugs. Part of the problem is that bacteria and ot...

+1
your tank is still cycling, so any water you remove will be good for keeping toxins low.

Re: Hermit crab and GSP
I had a fiddler crab that survived the transition. He died about a month after I reached marine conditions, I think it was because I didn't provide a place for him out of the water. I think the fiddler is the only one that can survive the salinity swing, but again you need to give it some land or it...

Re: Conch snail
Not sure what it is (no pic or description) but the price 6.50 would indicate either a fighting or tiger sand. My puffer is about 2 inches so I doubt he will be crunching him up any time soon. clearly I need to find out the species don't want him eating my brand new ricordea.

Conch snail
would there be any issues with a conch snail in a GSP tank? I'm not worried about the snail getting eaten, I just want to make sure it won't be a problem for the puffer.

That's the hunting position, they look for snails and such in the substrate like that. Mine does it all the time.

Re: GSP is still sick, fighting an uphill battle here.
Can you guys do this on PMs please, or maybe create your own thread to argue the pros and cons of antibiotic treatments? I was pretty interested in this thread until all of the "BS" started. Thanks.

Re: Hermit crab and GSP
I've had 3 hermits and 1 snail for the last several months. My GSP just likes to knock them off the rocks from time to time, but never even tries to nip at them, I say that since hermits are pretty cheap drop a couple in and if they get eaten then it was just a snack for the fish and if not you get ...

Re: hydrometer leaking help!?
I had a swing arm for the first 6 months of my tank. I just got a refractometer and i like it much better. it was $25 on ebay from nis sales or some thing like that. my swing arm has been accurate the whole time, but the refractometer is EXACT and you only need 3 drops to test so there is no mess.

I run about 12-14 hrs daily, I have some hair algae (actually just on 1 rock), but it hasn't expanded in months.
