It's larger than I thought it would be, but it does house a 9 watt UV internally. Build Quality: 8/10 I would give this a lower score if everythi...

Re: New light fixture

Is that 16" without the pins? Are they square? I'm looking at bulbs and found a 36 watt, but it's saying it's 17.9", and a square pin 40 watt is 16.75".

Re: Gsp Certain behaviors

They are not supposed to eat the oyster shell, only scrape their teeth on them to remove the meat. The shells are very hard and it would not be likely that even a larger puffer could "eat" the shells.

Re: Hand feeding my GSPs

+1 to them biting you and possibly swallowing air.
It's best to use tongs for feeding or you will find the title of this thread becoming very literal.

Re: Mbu attacked please help

Keep a really close eye on the wounds, if they start looking fuzzy you may need to use something other than melafix, like maracyn/maracyn 2.
What are you tap nitrate levels?
If you could plant the tank, the plants will consume nitrate.

Re: lighting for the fish

It's truly best for the fish to have the light on a timer for 6 - 8 hours. They will become accustomed to when the light will turn on and off, and that is less stressful than random.

Re: New light fixture

Pretty sweet, if you can, remove the cross bars, they are designed to refract the light in directions other than down. Also, cover your bare wires.

What do they taste like?
Jk. Those are generally harmless, but may be from overfeeding.

Re: Is Salt & Heat Method appropriate for my GSP?

My little dude eats mostly pond and Ramshorn snails, earthworms, and occasionally some squid, scallop, and bloodworms. I soak the latter 3 in Vitachem and Selcon.
