Re: Hello everyone! SAPs here

Hello!! I have three SAP’s as well and love them.. Fortunately I have not had any issues with them pickiness wise, but I could suggest to you what mine like. They love small snails (size of their eye), small slow sinking pellets such as Saki hikari (goldfish food, but i figure the variety can’t hurt...

Re: Hard foods for SAPs (besides snails) + other questions

Have you tried live foods such as snails with them yet? Otherwise you could soak your food in garlic to get their appetite going.

Re: Colomesus Asellus eat too much?

I have a puffer like that, almost two actually. One shows much less interest in feeding. One, a good amount, and finally the last eats way to much and loves to eat... his name is Tu. :) Hopefully you will not have too many issues with more egg laying from your Corydoras in the future.. :/ Has it eve...

Throwing up SAP/how to tell if healthy?

Hello, I have three SAP’s in a 28g with 8 bleeding heart Tetra’s and a bristlenose pleco. They all have gotten along fin so far as far as I can tell, but I have a few questions/a conundrum. A few days ago, I decided to clip their teeth right after doing their water change. I was very nervous about i...

Re: Heavily Planted tank advice

Thanks for the advice. I will try to be wary with the CO2 levels and fertilizers as well.. So far, my puffers have done well in my very low tech 28 gallon with no Co2 and few fertilizers. I’d post a picture of it on here, but I’m not sure how? When I try to attach a picture it says the file size is ...

Re: Heavily Planted tank advice

Thanks for the help Matt’s and Pufferpunk! I saw in an article on fish lights something about tank lid’s not working for heavily planted tanks so I was confused, thanks for clearing that up! Also, your tanks are beautiful Matt’s! Thanks for sharing. What system for Co2 do you have set up and what fe...

Heavily Planted tank advice

I am planning in the next couple of months on upgrading my 3 SAP’s from their current 28 gallon setup to a 75 gallon tank and would like it to be very heavily planted. The problem, however, is that I’m not sure if the tank can successfully thrive “heavily planted” with a lid, even if I invest in bet...

Re: any updated info on breeding SAP?

I would be interested in seeing this as well, I have three South American Puffers. I’ve heard they’ve never been bred in captivity, but don’t know anything else about attempts to breed them or any possible breakthroughs... Would love to hear about this as well!

Puffers on the move!

Hello all!! :) I recently bought a 30 gallon tank to move my 3 Amazon puffers in to, which are currently situated in a 20 gallon. It may still not be ideal/as big as the puffers would really enjoy, but for now I’m excited to give them an upgrade. I have a few questions, however, regarding the new se...

New to Puffers :-))

Hello, My name is Elizabeth and I am new to keeping puffers. I currently own 3 South American Puffers, 8 goldfish, and about a hundred snails I am using for feeding purposes for the puffers...:P They do not all live together, each species has their own tank. My puffers names are Ernest (his nickname...

Re: Amazon Puffer Teeth

Thanks for the advice everyone! I understand my tank may be too small, and I feel bad about it, but for now the undertaking to start up a 50 gallon tank would be very difficult... I have my goldfish in a 75 gallon. I’ve considered putting the puffers in with them, but factors such as water temperatu...
