Re: Figure 8 not gaining weight
I would also make sure the other fish in the tank have eaten some wormer to prevent infection spreading again. Also over the next couple of weeks keep extra vigilant on the water changes, partially digested food will mess with parameters and clean wtare helps the healing process

Re: Figure 8 not gaining weight
It looks like the two poos are indeed some part digested food and a worm segment of some kind. The poor thing is very thin hopefully he will pick up eating again in the next few days and with the parasites knocked back will be much improved. Keep us informed.

Re: SAP is unwell
Hi Boris I think the reccomendations for SAP is 15usg per fish. (I am open to corrections on this) The nitrates look high and no matter what is up clean water helps I suggest 50% water change and if you have a spare tank separate it. A good general treatment is Metronidazole it will treat parasites ...

Re: GSP Normal Behavior?
Some trumpet snails such as the Malaysian trumpet snail have very hard shells. Hard enough to break a determined puffers teeth on occasion. I do feed then to my young puffers but I crush them just before dropping them in.

Re: Figure 8 not gaining weight
Yeah it's especially designed for fish, it says its applied directly to the water and treats : fluke, tapeworms, flatworms and tubellerians. So would that treat my fish's IP? (: When a fish is not eating at all doesing the water is about all you can do, its not particularly effective as freshwater ...

Re: Figure 8 not gaining weight
Alternatively seek a praziquental based dog wormer from a vet. I have two dogs and simply pop up to my regular vet to pick up a wormer, recently I was up there with a sick dog and discssed my puffer fish. I ended up leaving with 50mg of praziqental and some syringes for dosing for injecting food

Re: GSP single or pair? + Brackish Plants?
Just a quick update. They have moved from the 50ltr to the 100ltr. A bigger tank awaits. Salinity is now 1.004. Raising has been slow due to the tank change over, the cannister filter was working hard enough. They have grown very fast! Currently 4.5cm each and that's almost 0.5 cm in just a couple o...

Good. The appetite seems to be improving. My one after a year eating everything except cockles ate eight of them last night. Since meds he's having a really noticeable growth spurt. Hopefully yours will be the same

Re: How long to leave empty
Turning up the temperature makes it less likely for ich to survive. I successfully treated discus and tetras in the past just by increasing tank temp to 30c. The ich can't get to hosts fast enough at that temp and die in the swimming stage.
