Fahaka Puffer PH?
My new Fahaka "Buzz" is coming in the morning (currently 2:50am here), and although his 150 gallon tank is fully cycled, I tested for ph today and it was 8.4. Our tapwater is 7.4-7.6, so I'm trying to figure out what's going on. It has 60 pounds of white and black sand from Petco in it, a ...

Re: Marmorkrebs as feeders?
I have beed breeding marmokrebs for about a year now. They only seem to reproduce about every 45 days, and the fry are highly cannabilistic, but the adults are great. Since they don't need a mate to breed, you could start with just one. Keep the water quality high, and you'll get about 100 or so fry...

Re: Puffer suggestions for new member?
I would just be careful with sticking more than one puffer in any tank. They are an aggressive species and very territorial. The only puffers I have been able to keep in groups without any problems at all are South American Puffers. They are true freshwater puffers, very friendly IME and you could k...

Re: Fahaka is extremely picky!
As others have said, live foods generally do the trick. If he doesn't want the worms, you could try snails or waving a market shrimp in front of him. Another thing to consider would be internal parasites. Basically all puffers that are wild caught (fahakas are) have worms of one sort or another. My ...

Re: GSPs, hermit crabs
I can't speak for the hermit crabs, but I think the cuttlefish bone is a great idea. I've kept them in with my puffers and they like to nibble at them. It's a great source of calcium, but more importantly helps them keep their teeth trimmed. Hope that helps a bit.

New Fahaka!
Hi all! I've had puffers for 9 years now, and can't sleep because I have my first Fahaka puffer arriving in the morning! He's 2" at the moment and will be in a 150g by himself. I have read posts on the forum for quite awhile now and am looking to both learn from and contribute to the forum in a...
