Re: Brackish Plants
Is it possible you share the information you've gathered? My wish is also to get some real-life plats growing in my GSP tank..

Re: What can I do to reduce the algae build up??
Do you know which type of algae you have? It makes a lot of difference..
Brown algae disappears after a while. Blue algae is only removable with the help of some antidotes, because it aren't really algae but bacterial.
Good filtration is the best thing! Keep your water moving over the substrate.

Re: Where does your puffer sleep?
turtledove (GSP) sleeps in the middle of the tank, in about 3cm from the glass. It's all in the open. Maybe he's afraid of the dark :P 'cause his lights are off when i'm still behind my computer :P So in the front section of the aquarium there is still some light. When he had just his meal and he is...

Re: Lowering pH in brackish tanks..
I see I didn't say anything about your answer.. You're great! It's a great help to understand more about how things work! Super! Thanks!
The aquarium salt I have is Instant Ocean from Aquarium Systems (head office in France). Don't know the exact readings, they aren't on the box also..

Re: Lowering pH in brackish tanks..
Hm, that's somewhat strange then.. as I've got on the bottom of the tank a layer of live sand (from the Bahama's if I'm correct). Far as I know, it does consist crushed coral.. Am I wrong here? Well.. anyway, the "quick fix" solution will not give me any problems but on the long term, what...

Re: Lowering pH in brackish tanks..
Thanks for your useful explanation!
My KH is currently about 6 en the SG is 1.012, they are almost always consistent. The balanced diet, water quality (you mean NO2/NO3 here I think?) and swimming place aren't a problem.

Fluid tests from Tetra..
I know that it is better to have a consistent pH, but I want to keep it at the level the GSP likes it most

Lowering pH in brackish tanks..
Well .. as the subject says.. How to lower the pH in brackish tanks? In FW you use co2 or peat, but can I use it also in BW?
Point is, my GSP has in his BW tank a pH of 9.0 In PufferPedia it says that he likes to be in 7.0-8.3, so I want to lower it.. Or is it better to just leave it in this way?

Sleeping GSP..
Just a few minutes ago I turned myself around to watch my GSP. I saw him on the bottom of the tank in a darker corner laying just like a dog when it's sleeping (tail besides him, exactly like a dog..). Anyone seen it before? At first I thought that something was wrong, so inmediatly I went to the ta...

Re: redish/brown algae??
I've the same problem in my 200 liter tank. Started it 3,5 weeks ago. I've read on the internet that a diatom filter is the quick-solution for this problem. It won't take away the cause but it will filter all the organisms so you won't have the ugly brownish algae-looking areas. Anyone with experien...

Identifying a puffer (I think it's a GSP..)
Yesterday I was helping out some guy on a dutch forum with his puffer. He migrated him from his community tank to a tank for it's own... Finally he had the chance to make some movies of the fellow so that we could identify him. I think it's a GSP, but I'm not totally sure. So... I ask the prof's! ;)...

GSP and corals..
Well ... after reading some topics about corals in a GSP tank, i have still some questions left.. I've read that it is possible to keep a GSP in a marine tank, salinity of 1.024/1.025. This can only be done if he is an adult. I've also read that if you keep corals with you GSP it will nip off some c...
