No, it is not.

T.schoutedeni is a freshwater fish from Africa.
It looks like a GSP, but have visible spines on its body.
Extremly rare fish, never seen one for sale.
Guess peace will have to come to the Congo area before it appears in the shops.

Re: Strange Fahaka behaviour

I don't think my fish "needs" to burrow. It wasn't burrowing in the LFS tank. In fact it was constantly swimming, begging for food. Ahhh... Yet; the fish burrows, doesnt it? Reasons could be many. Difference in substrate, water chemistry, sense of security, strange beings insisting on pok...

Re: Strange Fahaka behaviour

Hi all. I picked up a 2cm long Fahaka puffer today. It's in a 30g tank at the moment - any larger and it would not be able to find food to eat. What's strange is, it's buried in the gravel. Each time I get it out of hiding, it promptly returns to an underground hideout. I've read that Fahakas are s...

Re: Cycling my 28g...

How much would an external filter set me back (generally)? I'm still fairly new to the whole aquarium business. I've read about sumps, how they work, and why they're amazing, but I don't really have the space at the moment to implement such a wondrous invention. In fact, I have a hard enough time c...

Re: Would you mix with a Fahaka?

I really dont think it is a good idea in any circumstances to make a puffer (fahaka) share its tank but i constantly see people whom have successfully introduced other species into their tanks as additions just looking for your views guys????? Even if it allows tankmate(s) for a period of time; pre...

Re: Cycling my 28g...

I have always stayed clear of that kind of hydrometer. I use this kind. It does not measure as exact as a refractometer, but its potential misreading will not be fluctuating. Be sure to remember that the temperature of the water is an important factor when measuring SG. IMO you should do at least 3 ...

Re: Cycling my 28g...

Hmmm...

There should really be no notable difference between cycling fresh or brackish aquariums.
Could there be that your SG is fluctuating thus making life tough for beneficial bacteria?

How do you measure SG?
How often do you change water?
Filtration?

Re: Keeping Tank / Decor clean (Messy F8s)

Hi and welcome to our forum.

Using a powerful internal filter in order to introduce a notable current should solve your problem.
And provide entertainment for fishies.
And make plants happy.

I tend to overfiltrate on pure principle... 8)

Re: could some one help

Uhmm, this is odd. I have 14 gsp and figure 8s together in a tank, some have really nice bright white bellies and some of blackish or greyish bellies sometimes. not all the time but some. I think it's a mood thing. i have had these puffers for over a year and they are fine. my aquarium is tested an...
