Re: Starting up new tank for my GSPs
I run an ac on my sw to run carbon (reefgel) and purigen. And heed PP warning. You need to be OK with your puff killing/eating everything in the tank. "Full loss due to puffering"

Re: New F8, have different question
I always use sponge prefilters on all of my intakes. It is safer for your fish, extends the life if the filter, and allows me to toss friends established filter media just by removing the prefilters.

Re: New F8, have different question
Not sure what your friend was running for a filter on his salt water tank. This is normally done with live rock and a skimmer. Skimming won't work at the brackish levels your tank needs to be at. The only scenario that would work is if you had a filter off a brackish tank at the same salinity levels...

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank setup?
Yes. Please let us know how long the tank has been running. How it was cycled. And make sure to test for nitrite as well. As PP stated the tank should show some nitrate if its cycled.

Re: Welch's 30g Long Planted.
So my 30g has been on hold to get my office tank that crashed, reworked. I moved my co2 into the office. Picked up a 6.25 gallon bowfront "arc" tank from Petco. Removed the internal filter and cleaned up the excess silicon, and cut down the glass hood to fit the fuval 20. The lights heater...

Re: DP tankmates
Well two reason for that. First is I ment to post rainbow goby, which is a common name for it. The full name would be ......Stiphodon ornatus. There are at least a few freshwater gobies that I know of none of which I would advise keeping with dps.

Definitely check on ebay for these. I picked up a Victor hpt270-D for $60 shipped. The barrreport has fantastic references for part numbers for the post body builds and the article for leak testing is a must if picking up a used reg.

Re: Can I put a Dragon Goby with a GSP?
I had one for a very short period. I gave mine some very good cover to bury itself at the front of the tank. Had a hard time keeping it fed as the gsp would steal its food. As others have stated sedentary and slow fish are not ideal with gsps.

Re: DP tankmates
I have amanos, zebra danios, and a peppermint plec. The plec is not OK in a 20. I have managed to keep a rose goby with them as well but this is just dumb luck. Typically you need a fast fish that does have long fins that is the appropriate size for your tank.
