Re: My new immaculate puffer
Additionally you should ditch the bubbler. In a salt tank its just going to cause spray, creep, and will etch your canopies. Agreed. I only use bubblers when medicating- they also speed up evaporation, I loose enough water without help. Beautiful Puffer by the way..... Congrats! so do you use a ven...

Re: Your experiences with Live Rock
Oh cool!
I hope someone develops and sells cheap DIY live rock soon. There's gotta be a killing to be made and not much room for error in selling lightweight, oddly shaped, porous rock to enthused hobbyists who care about the wild reef environment.

Re: My new immaculate puffer
Interesting discussion! if it had come from an established tank with LR, I should think it might be possible for it to have been seeded by the types of life which prefer the surface of the rock - Being in a home aquarium, how deep could it really have been buried? :D Would be interested to see how i...

Re: Your experiences with Live Rock
Oh, I've had brittle stars, a gorgeous red mushroom, a rather unique looking aiptasia that my fiance forbid me from smiting, bristle worms, a couple of polyps, sponge, and other critters I couldn't even begin to identify. Thats awesome! I'm pumped to get started! :D quote With just one small 1 lb p...

Re: Your experiences with Live Rock
Bristle worms are basically equivalent to fiberglass on steriods. Tip if you brush into one use can use tape to pull the spines out. I love that my puff will actively search the live rock for critters. And at night mine have a colony of micro brittle stars that come out. yeah i'm looking foward to ...

Re: Your experiences with Live Rock
I picked up a piece to move to another tank and once I put it down, realized I had come within half an inch of touching a bristle worm x.x On the other hand, I love seeing what will appear from new pieces! Especially cute little baby serpent stars! <3 Would love to find a baby mantis shrimp! haha! ...

Your experiences with Live Rock
I would like to hear any interesting experiences you've had while keeping live rock?
Any notable experience, good or bad, is valuable. I'm especially interested, though, in anything you are glad you did or regret doing when adding live rock to a tank.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Snails not breeding no more...
An easy way to know if you have hard water is whether or not you get a lot of limescale built up on the walls of your kettle when/if you don't use a filter. I don't really know what the ideal temperature is, but I do know (from first-hand experience and from reading some studies) that snails are cra...

Re: Snails not breeding no more...
I've heard that two things make them more inclined to breed - warm water and plenty of food.
Have they got a lot to eat? Also, maybe pop a cheap heater in there, if you haven't got one.
