Re: help identifying some puffers
My friend saw this puffer at the fish store. He sent this to me, and it is labeled "Monotrete Leirus" or "longnose puffer". Is it really a M Leirus? http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/417/dscn1611t.jpg http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/694/dscn1612c.jpg http://img98.imageshack.u...

Cost of Hairy Puffer?
What a reasonable price for a hairy puffer? I saw two of them. One of them is in stock at LFS for $70 and I saw another one elsewhere LFS for $100, both price before sales tax. This is more than twice as much as I paid for my congo puffer. Pufferpedia just says its "expensive", but I had n...

Re: Feeding/owning new puffer
I guess what I'm getting at is he probably isn't used to you yet and it may take some time, just don't get frustrated with it and try to spook it or make sudden movements. Also wear earthy colors, reds and bright colors may scare it as well. Just give him time he will grow used to you and be more p...

Re: New Congo Puffer
Ok I think the zoo sand isn't fine sand, so I'll go with some of their red colored sand. Its not aragonite, but I better double check with them.

New Congo Puffer
Hi everyone, I just got a new congo. Its less than 2 inches. I put him in my 20 gal long aquarium QT and it will turn into his permanent home after a few weeks. Just wondering how to start feeding him and making him feel comfortable. Pics to come when my friend gives me back my camera this upcoming ...

Re: Feeding/owning new puffer
Thanks for the input guys. I hope it gets better within a few weeks. I traded in my 2 SAPs to get my turgidus. The 2 SAPs didn't seem like they have enough room in a 29gal and were very active. They seemed easier to own too. I'll try to get a 40 or 50gal for 3-4 SAPS in the future.

Feeding/owning new puffer
Hey guys, I just got a Monotrete Turgidus last week. So far he's been hiding most of the time. For the first few days, I left one small snail for him to eat every night and always find pieces of snail shells in the morning. I tried feeding him raw shrimp as seen by my LFS. The people there would hol...

Re: Axolotl cool freshwater animal to own?
They need cold water. No more than 72 degree F, but can't remember the exact number. I want to get a white one with black eyes from a breeder. He sells them for $20-$25 each plus $35 shipping accross the USA. They grow to about 1foot long including tail. Price is really high. Not sure if I should ge...

Axolotl cool freshwater animal to own?
I recently found some pics of them online. They are very cool looking and look just as adoring as puffers. I did some research and they require cold water, low current flow, nocturnal, diet consist of worms. I also youtube'd some glow in the dark axolotl. What do you guys think? Would any of you buy...

Re: Eclipse systems
All of my tanks are eclipse system. I bought them all used. I use higher power filter for the hood, and then its good to go for puffers
I would never buy them new because its not worth it.
