Re: New Congo Puffer
I cant find the worm in his tank :o he ate it last night :) Now he is chasing the guppy around. Young congos must be really active. His tank at the LFS also did not have any substrate in it, so he's not in unfamiliar terrain. Maybe I should mix all that sand in the sample into a bowl for him to bury...

Re: New Congo Puffer
I'm in the process of getting some color sands and been in contact with an industrial sand supplier. Their hours are my working hours, so its hard to establish a good line of communication. Here are my options, they will get back to me on Monday. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/88/img35061.jpg/...

Re: New Congo Puffer
Its hard to feed him worms. I put one in his tank for the past 2 nights, but he didn't take it. He took some nibbles, but never really bite into it. I threw in 2 guppy so far, and he eats them. Now he just sits behind the castle. When the guppy is there, he stayed motionless. With nothing in the tan...

Re: New Congo Puffer
I put a few castles in there. Its not bare. All the decor is in the middle of the tank, but he mostly sits in the corners. I think the wound is closed off but will keep an eye on him.

Re: New Congo Puffer
I am noticing a bite mark on my miurus. At the time of purchase, there were 2 miurus in the same tank. I think the other miurus took a bite at miurus. I didn't notice it since the tank was in a very high spot where I couldn't get a top view. Its not like a piece of its flesh was ripped off, but ther...

Re: help identifying some puffers
Oh here's another mystery puffer. They call it "Oscellated Puffer". I did a search on pufferpedia, and I think it could be some kind of Takifugu puffer. Sorry for the bad pics. I can get more pics if needed. The pics show red eyes, but I really remember seeing black eyes and black target s...

Re: Feeding/owning new puffer
What is an appropriate amount of food to feed my turgidus? I been feeding him every 2-3 days or until I notice his stomach is not very round anymore. I been feeding him 2-3 pea sized raw prawns for the past 2 weeks. I notice 4-5 pea sized raw shrimp makes his belly really large, and stopped doing th...

Re: New Congo Puffer
I got my camera back. It was hard getting a good pic right now since he is moving around when I get near the tank. here is a shot when he was still at the LFS http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/7043/dscn1651.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us He turned back to orange for a few days, and then he turned ...

Re: Decorating Tank Expense
One cool things I've seen these guys do is, when it gets dark, they will move gravel from one spot to another and create depressions in the gravel. Mine digs them down to the glass, and lays in them at night. I have dropped a earthworm in there and he waited for it to roll across the depression he ...

Re: Decorating Tank Expense
Just a few rock caves?! I was under the impression that puffers need heavy decor to prevent boredom. Maybe that only apply to the active ones?
If lurker puffers only need a few rock caves, then decor expense should be relatively cheaper than I had planned :d

Re: Decorating Tank Expense
I check Craigslist everyday in hopes to get a new tank. Most of the sellers are trying to get rid of everything in one bundle, but I often email them about selling separately. I'm searching ebay for the past 2 weeks. How about this castle decor for my 29gal turgidus tank: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBay...

Decorating Tank Expense
Are there any cheap ways to decorate a tank and make it feel heavily planted for a puffer? I see these plastic plants with weighted bottom at Petco fish store: http://www.petco.com/product/113851/PETCO-Green-Plastic-Aquarium-Plant-Variety-Pack.aspx Is there a cheaper way to decorate a tank? I wouldn...

Re: New Congo Puffer
I'm still trying to get my camera back.
I noticed over the one week period, I have him change from a dark brown/reddish color to an orange color. He is now orange most of the time!

Re: help identifying some puffers
Wow thats really cool because I couldn't find a fang puffer anywhere in the seattle area. I'll go check him out today or tomorrow and maybe add him to my puffer collection :) I'm really excited. I like a little mystery from a puffer before I buy one. Pictures to come when I can get my camera back fr...
