Re: Tank updates - puffers & tankmates
Yay!! Today marks the 1-year anniversary of my puffers coming into my home  We've been thru a lot (can't believe it's only been 1 year!) and I can't say enough about how fun and rewarding it's been. :D I tried to detach Evan Jr from the rock so I could sell him. I tried every method you coul...

Re: Tank updates - puffers & tankmates
My anemone split!! image.jpeg The new one was about a quarter of the "dad" & after a day or two I thought it was a dying piece being shed. It looked so shrunken & pathetic, I considered scraping it off & tossing it. I fed it mysis & it ate. Lo and behold it bubbled ...

Re: Tank updates - puffers & tankmates
Thanks Blinkey! I have tried to mitigate any aggression issues. I put the goby/shrimp, clowns & CUC in first & the puffers showed zero aggression. Not a sniff at the hermits. When they swim too close to his burrow, the goby flares his gills & they dash off. They immediately checked out s...

Re: Tank updates - puffers & tankmates
Lennie wouldn't eat anything I offered though She only wanted to eat off the rock/glass. I wonder if there are less picky blennies.

Re: Tank updates - puffers & tankmates
Thanks pokeystar! It's all cobbled together from second-hand stuff (except lights) & thanks to all the help from this forum, I've had great fun with it :) Thanks PP. what r your experiences with blennies? So many sites say it's an 'easy' fish, but when I was googling how to get her to eat, I rea...

Re: Tank updates - puffers & tankmates
Lots to update... Sadly, I had my first fishy loss. The electric blue hermit cleaned the tank so well that about a week later, I realized my lawnmower blenny was looking skinny & wasn't browsing the rocks anymore. I researched & tried feeding all kinds of things, but she wouldn't touch anyth...

Re: New tank update - puffers & tankmates
I think so. I saw the "mother" and it was like yours. I had just put the frag in my tank & it started to extend a little. I wanted to snap a shot to document what it looked like. Also, it's a combo of my iphone & lighting but the tips are pretty green from what I can see. Hope it's...

Re: New tank update - puffers & tankmates
I got a Tyree neon green toadstool (I think should be ok under my lights). Seems to be fine and I got it for a great price. As I was trying to document my new addition, got photobombed again! I guess they love the iphone. Haha, just love their funny faces.

Re: Are these bristle or fire worms???
They look just like the bristleworms in my tank. Btw, thanks for the advice, Bertie, not to freak out over my crazy worm population explosion. I'm glad I heeded your warning & held back on the 6-line wrasse. After a couple of months of the new tank settling in, the population has definitely wane...

Re: New tank update - puffers & tankmates
I guess I am cheap. I have the birthday go ahead to buy the led lights but still haven't hit the buy button :? The high US$ is killing me. Anyway, my daughter's bday gift to me is an electric blue hermit: Hagrid. He looks amazing & is so cool. But, he's a lot bigger than my 2 other hermits &...

Re: New tank update - puffers & tankmates
Yeah, losing those zoas was a bummer. They were nice too ($35 for 10 polyps).
I think you mentioned you use led lights? They are so expensive!!

Re: New tank update - puffers & tankmates
So I added a lawnmower blenny, Lennie, a couple of weeks ago. She's quite a character; very assertive and no nonsense. I'm pleased that everyone is doing fine, except for 1 snail (who was a bit sketchy to start with, hardly ever moved :? ). Even the hermit crabs. I also tried out & lost a few Ra...

Re: New tank update - puffers & tankmates
Still up in the air re long-nose hawkfish. They sound great but I worry about my pistol shrimp even tho he's cautious. This swooping down thing concerns me a bit. The tank seems peaceful now, I'd hate to stir things up! Altho I'm sure if I see one I'll change my mind again. I did add a tuxedo urchin...

Re: New tank update - puffers & tankmates
That's good to hear! They seem to have a lot of personality, which attracts me more than good looks, altho I think they look really sweet too:)
