Re: Puffer Interactions - when is it aggressive?

I agree with heather. FW puffs are so much less compatible. My rule of thumb is this: when the instigator will not let up, it’s moving day. Fins torn or white bite marks, it’s solitary for the offender. I know what you mean about how peas squabble, and that is not uncommon at all. But when the bully...

Re: WTB irrubesco

Awww, that sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing that with me. Many explain them as being elusive and always hiding. Most my time with my fish is in the evening and so I love nocturnal puffers, it just works out better. I am really excited to see what personalities mine will have! Has your female ...

Re: Company Puffers

Lorteti are the meanest of the Carinotetraodon red eyes (Irrubesco the least). I Suggest staying away from any dusk/night active puffers (if they have red eyes that’s a big tell) the reason being that your travancoricus will eventually have to sleep, and considering they will also be occupying the l...

Re: Tetraodon Miurus

LIVEAQUARIA?!?! No way! That’s amazing, how he does with tank mates, I know schoutedeni are peaceful, but the miurus are hit and miss! That’s crazy! I haven’t risked any Tank Mates with my puffs, other than huge Amano shrimp with the peas. He would have his own planted tank for sure, mix of live and...

Re: Schoutedeni not doing well.

I am so glad they are settling! What I do is a partial water change, without gravel vac, not only in prep for new fish- but to steal the water! I use the tank water for the base of a fish bath. Then I dose methylene blue to the bath, and that’s what I use for drip acclimation (when they show up that...

Re: Schoutedeni not doing well.

It sounds like they were going through poisoning, your seller must not know that these guys need DAYS of fasting before shipping, or a day with All that messy puffer waste and respiration, will really do much more harm than to a reg tropical fish bc the poop is worse and puffs are so sensitive anywa...

Re: WTB irrubesco

You were the first person who helped me look outside my home state, you were already getting one or two! I must admit, as much money, time, and life energy as I have put into looking for these fish- with no avail, I wouldn’t have all my other puff babies if I would have found them right away. Well.....

Re: Schoutedeni not doing well.

Pp- I feel lawful cutting into the issue at hand, but I thought you just got 2 schoutedeni? I have been away for a while, so I’m sorry if I missed something. Lilacamy931- I wish i would have got to you sooner. Methylene blue, sold in prediluted bottles- perfect for newly arrived fish as it soothes b...

Re: Tetraodon Miurus

I can only imagine the weather in Delaware, we usually get rain but got an evening of snow on Christmas Eve! Back to the rain now, but I know the heat packs will be most functional and necessary for the first half of the trip where it’s freezing still! How long have you had this sweet boy, any guess...

Re: Tetraodon Miurus

I just found your add, I see you’re not wanting to ship. I must say- I have NEVER seen this coloration. My God what a beauty. Can we make a deal? If you don’t sell him by spring can we talk? I really am blown away by such a beautiful Murius... and have always wanted one. I currently have a couple pe...

Ain’t no spring chicken

I have two rescue pea puffs- both female. Their tank is beautifully aged and has a wealth of infuriosa and micro organisms PERFECT for fry. One is young, no more than 1.5 years but she’s got an encapsulated piece of shell in her chin that has formed a cyst. She is otherwise vibrant and healthy. She ...

Re: Fishless cycle

Also, with food- it decomposes, which is the point-but enough collects and you could have saprolengia outbreak (fungus which grows on decomposing organic matter). Larger pieces of raw food tend to do this more than flake, however I recommend you do thorough gravel vac to ensure no debris begins to e...

Re: Newbie to puffers

By mini puffers, you refer to the “pea” travancoricus? You could also have any of the common Red eye (Irrubesco or Lorteti) since you’re in the U.K.!

Re: Tetraodon Miurus

I don’t see it! Omg will you ship? This is the color morph I have been looking for, is he marbled grey and beige?!? I live all the way in Wa, but will happily pay for packaging materials and shipping. If not I understand, puffs are sensitive.
