fin rot would obviously start on the fins then work towards the body. once it reaches the body then theres not much chance of anything growing back and he will die. you can get medication to treat this however with the puffer in the tank im not sure if it will hurt the puffer or not. you should have...

i noticed with my snails feeding them zuccini makes a difference. they bred more. its pretty cool. also fresh water changes (obviously) haha

im sorry about your loss... yet you can get fresh water puffer...like dwarf puffers for example. very small yet just as fun. i hope you get more puffers. also cycling a tank for about a month with most fish is recommended...2 weeks might be too soon for more sencitive fish, like puffers. and always ...

there is a difference between aquarium salt and marine salt. ask the lady what kind of salt they put in the tank...that may help.
if its aquarium salt you wont really need to lower the salinity down.

thanks so much! i checked the nitrite just now again and its reading 0 so im just assuming that it was a mini cycle like you guys said. dumpy seems real happy and is buzzing around. :D i will check the nitrate + ammonia after too ------ ammonia 0 nitrate 5 so its good i fed him 2 days ago an his bel...

my nitrite has risen. before i added dumpy it was 0.00. the aquarium was a freshwater for over a year before. i started adding marine salt and everything was fine (i know you cant add too much other wise it kills off the benificial bacteria) yet i checked it lastnight and today and its sitting at .2...

id agree. ive only had awesome resaults with aquaclear. the others are crap (my opinion) over filtering your tank is better when you have puffers anyway. messy fish!
