Re: My porcupine puffer only eats peas!

My porc won't eat lobster, squid or any if that type of stuff. His favorites are raw shrimp I buy at the deli and snails

Re: puffer surgery success!

Thank you. Yeah it was very nice of the vet. They were excited about the whole thing and this is small town Vermont. Dr. Tony is a talented surgeon! He's also my dogs vet, my one of my girls broke a canine tooth that cost $500 to have removed. So I was excited and grateful to hear they did everythin...

Re: puffer surgery success!

Juke is doing well. No sign of infection. His stitches came out but the vet said that would probably happen. It will continue to heal open. It looks good though, starting to grow new skin and close up. He is more active than ever, seems like he's feelin good. My vet didn't charge me for the surgery....

Re: Mbu tail injury, surgery fix?

I agree. My porcupine puffer recently had surgery, only because it was his only chance. If he could've lived with his tumor, we would have. I'm just glad he's ok

Re: puffer surgery success!

Yeah they knocked him out. I got to pick him up and put him on the table. Then we drenched him with medicated water to keep him under on the table. There was a few times he started to move his tail fin. He had anesthesia squirted into his gills continuously. It was all very cool but scary at the sam...

Re: puffer surgery success!

I wouldn't be surprised, everyone at the vet loved him. Big fish, big personality! And I'm sure he would eat chicken noodle soup but I gave him snails as a get better gift and he was extremely happy.

Re: puffer surgery success!

Juke is eating normally and back to begging constantly. I got really lucky, the vet is 1 mile from my house. He had never operated on a fish before but he is an aquarium owner so he has knowledge about fish. He is also a talented surgeon.

Re: puffer surgery success!

The MS222 worked well as long as he was continually receiving doses on the table. We kept covering him with water, he started to move his tail fin a little during so he was drenched in his gills with medicated water to keep him under. I'm still don't know what they are going to charge me. The Dr. wa...

puffer surgery success!

Juke made it threw surgery! He's back at home recovering after having a lump the size of a quarter removed. Dr. Tony is having it sent out to find out what it was. Hopefully the next couple weeks will go well, no infections and quick healing. It seemed to go pretty well, after only a couple minutes ...

Re: puffer surgery

And how do I place him in the anesthesia bath? It's not quite clear in the article. Do I scoop him up in the small container then treat the water, or treat one container and move him into it somehow? I will figure something out just not sure if someone has a perfected method. And I also read somethi...
