Re: Got a second schoutedeni puffer,,,,they dont seem to get along!!
Had the same issues a few years ago when I tried to introduce a new schoutedeni into an established tank with only one original schoutedeni in it. The only thing that works in my experience is putting them in a "new" tank simultaneously. So would follow PP's advice about a complete redecor...

Re: T schoudenti bite, and wont let go of the other
Is the one puffer latched on to the other puffer's belly? If so, they are mating. Nothing is wrong. DO NOT DISTURB THEM. DO NOT TRY TO SEPARATE THEM.

Re: Schoutendini Puffer advice
I had the same problems with six of my schoutedenis upon first introduction to my 125g tank. With time and plenty (Lots) of rocks and plants to break up lines of sight as PP said, they are now at a mostly peaceful coexistence (only occasionally chasing). Knowing then what I know now, I probably woul...

Re: New Guy with a Schoutedeni Puffer
All of my schoutedeni in all of my tanks ignore all of their tankmates (corys, tetras, plecos, kilis, upsidedown cats etc) except each other. Never had a single puffer-related casualty. If anything, they are too shy, and the tankmates steal food from them (!).

Re: Is my tank big enough for keeping an Mbu for life?
The T. schoutedeni are a lot of fun! I have six in a 125gal, and they each have their own personalities. Would definitely recommend them.

I've purchased Tricaine-S (MS-222) here, too, in the past: https://pentairaes.com/tricainer-s-topi ... s-222.html

Re: Filtration for pufffers?
The Poret foam line of filters is also excellent if you wanted to do a sponge filter in addition to the Aquaclear HOB. Swiss Tropicals online is my source for these. I have at least one of the versions of these in all of my tanks as a backup in case the power goes out. (We can't run the canister fil...

Re: Filtration for pufffers?
I've had a consistently good experience with the Eheim classic series over the years. Very low maintenance and excellent filtration. They cost more, but it has been worth it.

Re: My schoutedeni puffer didnt it any food! Help please
Realize that this is an older thread, but in case this helps, I have 6 schoutedeni in a 125g, and now that I've has them for awhile, would go even bigger if I could on tank size.

Re: New Guy with a Schoutedeni Puffer
Just from having had this same debate myself, I wouldn't add more than one more to a 47g for a total of two. I'd also add them at the same time or as close to it as possible to keep territories from being established and then infringed upon when the new "interloper" is introduced. I had a ...

Re: Anything can do to help puffed puffer?
Thanks so much, Feral and Pufferpunk. I really do love my girl. She has the sweetest personality and has bonded to me, as much as a puffer can bond to a person. I tried the hospital library article technique, and to me, she still looks a little puffy. Wondering if I should try it again tomorrow? Her...
